Bought new LED tail lights and I want to know what the easiest way to install them would be.

I'm a BEGINNER

 

I used a deep socket......and a stubby short handled socket wrench........tight fit......also test all the bulbs before you crank anything down.

 

I don't know what those are lol!

 

Bumping this just in case someone can give me a detailed explanation (pix maybe?)

Or what can I search for under the tech section?

 

Deep 10 mm 1/4 drive socket. Swivel and 10 inch extention. This allows you to turn the ratchet outside the hole.

Thanks for that link. Is it necessary to unplug it from the battery, or whatever it's saying to do?

Nah, just unplug the main plug going to the light. Pull the 2 nuts and the light comes right out.

 

TAKE GREAT CARE TO NOT DROP THE NUTS!

If you do, they are very tough to recover from the abyss down there. I had to break out the magnetic pickup tool.

It's not too far. Just down into the rear quarter. You just need a telescopic magnet on an antenna thingy.

 

i just swapped my stockers back in for winter

very simple, but with some after market tails, you have to apply a little pressure on the bumper th get the bottom end in properly, dont be afraid to use force bumper is on there tightly

Nah, I just put my stockers back in to keep the 1st gen TYC's safe just incase.

let me ask you while you're here (hopefully)... i hear people take off their rims in the winter and put on their stock tires. is there a reason other than not wanting to scratch up the rims?

 

Better traction because most have summer only tires on their fancy wheels. I run my steelies cause I go north for the Christmas season and always end up in deep snow. Plus I like just changing up the look from time to time.

 

snow and salt pit and destroy rims, you can run your rims if you would like, i dont recomend it though
slap your steelies back on and keep your rims safe till spring

 

if your in the south though you don't have to worry bout that, we here in arkansas have the infamous three day winter, its below 40 3 days in a row, then back into the 80s+ its been between 80 and 90 all last week
