yah, i've noticed a little knock type sound when i hit a big speed bump reel fast, but other than that they're pretty quiet. I was gunna post the same question, but i didn't know how to describe the sound.

Well, I am on TRDs...the only noice coming out of them is a little "pfft" over little bumps....just the shocks making gassy noises.

<~running tanabe NF210.
they come with bump stops and this plastic wrap
around thing so ur springs don't click.
ZERO sounds and the ride feels 99% like stock.

nah....especially if both of ours do it...i think its either the sound of the shocks hitting the bump stop, or the springs clanging cuz they're bein compressed so fast..dunno...it only happens on big bumps that i take to fast....i'm cool with it...just to be sure, i jacked up the car and checked all the bolts and everything looks fine.

ok, heres what it is. The coils on the rears springs are so compressed that they actually touch each other, and possibly touch the side of the lower spring pocket. You can eliminate the sound by wrapping the lower portion of the spring with spiral wrap loom like the Tanabe's. Eibach puts a section of hose over the spring, but it doubt that it would be easy to do that.

that stinks....seems like a huge oversight for goldline...I dont think I would like a suspension that makes clanking noises.

I've got 1.25" Spy springs and don't hear anything at all. Do the 2" Spy's clank too?

interesting ... i have GoldLines on mine..and i haven't experienced such clanking noise...where did you guys get ur installed?

when i got mine installed...they kept the stock plastic/vinyl type wraps from the stock coils and put it on my GoldLines...i think that's y mine is quiet. as Randy said, put them around the second lower tier of the coils.

you are supposed to re-use the rubber spring isolators.

my cousin is a mechanic and while we were installing my springs, he mentioned about "if you hear clanking noises..spray the coils with WD40 once a while and that should fix it" but my TRD is not making that noise so....

its the OTHER kind. its kinda SPIRAL. like a black
piece of tube(hard plastic) tahts sprial cut so its like

sometimes when landing a big jump, the spy springs will make a slight noise.

i had a ramp set up and i was practicing my jumping through a hole in a train as it passed by. i probably should have had a ramp on the other side, but the springs still held up pretty well. i think david hasselhoff would get them if he had a scion.

eric, when are we supposed to do that jumping over the helicopter thing? I keep forgetting.

yea..remind me to bust out the vid cam so we can have proof that you actually cleared the train this time. also the park rangers told me that you should stop practicing jumps over the local pond. they really didn't like that you know...

i'm a little scared to do the helicopter thing. it just seems dangerous.

One thing to be really careful of when lowering the cars is when you reinstall the front top hats. They need to be fully seated...otherwise you could face minor problems like this. Check to see which corner of the car the noise is coming from and continue sleuthing from there...

do you ever scrape or rub anything with that size tire and the Goldline's?

thanks!

im running 215/45/17 with the SPY 2" springs. No rubbing at all. And people allways mistake my cheapie wheels for 18's.

Just to resurrect this ancient thread, I installed a set of Goldlines this week and they make all kinds of fun clanky noises from the rear. It seems pretty clear to me that it's the 4 coils that are fully resting against each other at normal rideheight that are vibrating against each other over any kind of sharp jolt. Highway driving is so smooth there's zero noise.

My plan is to spiral wrap the coils to cut out coil-to-coil interaction, using 6mm silicon vacuum hose cut into spirals. I've tested with two 4" long pieces, so they definitely fit nicely, but I need more to actually get all the places I need to. Unfortunately I can't find the several feet of 6mm I have somewhere, I suspect it's in teh trunk of my MR2 which is totally wrapped up for winter around back of the house.

And I think I probably should get some yellow hose, not the blue I currently have. Yellow on yellow probably looks better, even though you can't see it unless you're under the car :)

I'll post back if I manage to find enough hose to properly do the rear coils and see if the noises go away.

I only got the noise from the fronts and you could see the rub spot when the car was lifted. Stylis had a pair of OEM springs and we took the plastic sheathing off of them and put it on the fronts and the noise has disappeared. Look on your OEM springs, what you need should be there, unless you're having a different issue, and I'd make sure they are seated right in back cuz the only Goldline noise I've ever read about on here was this unwrapped issue on the fronts.

Good luck.
