Default question...?...

i have 2 12cvr kickers in my tC

well, when i got my system, bout 8 months ago, it came with some amp wit 2000 max watts (yea, i didnt know bout rms then, i jus saw high numbers ) well, my amp cant handle the power anymore
after about 1 30min drive, the subs will take like a 5 minute breather than cut back on and so on. so yea, my amps lil power protective thingy comes on.

wat amp would u guys recommend for my 2 12's?
i could careless bout the price, but it would be nice if u can give me a variety.

im jus in need of something that'll help push my subs to the max.

also, sometime late next year i myte add a 15" kicker.
would i need a separate amp for this?
again, wat would u recommend.

one more thing, yea i kno
but um.......in the future i also want an amp to power to my speakers.
so, if i had my 2 12's, my 15, and speakers, would i need 3 different amps???

all help is needed, thanx

What I mean by setting is like the gain ****..

Two things usually will cause an amp to go into circuit protection or clip.

Either the subs are wired incorrectly or do not match the amp and causing it to go into a lower ohm load then it can handle
or
the gain is turned up so high its causing distortion

What you need to do sub/amp wise is to match the subs ohm rating you want with an amp that has the power and configuration to support the subs.

Honestly getting 2 12's and a 15 would be WAY overkill and prob not even fit easily. again if thats something you want to do you can go with 3 amps or your could get away with 2.. its all going to depend on your subs you want to go with and there wiring configuartion

one thing you really want to remember is get the same series amps and speakers (meaning dont mix an alpine 12 and a JL 15 or a jl 6wseries with a jl 7wseries) because when you mix the timing might not be the same or the freq could be off.

but really the / series is a great way to go, they 1000/1 will power almost anything and it has some good features like no matter how you wire it (series or parallel), it will alway displace 1000 watts check it out.

don't mix sizes or types of subs... if you're going to eventually get one 15, then sell what you have and spend more on the 15/enclosure/amp...that's JMO

i see wat ur sayin, but is it bad to mix sizes.
does it cause sound problems?

i was jus lookin into doin that for looks.
however i plan to have my setup i think it'll look nice to have to smaller subs on the sides then the big one in the middle.

the only way you'll want to di that is if you have the 2 12's playing different frequencies than the 15... for example, build a large sealed box for the 15 and have it running 10-50Hz and then allow the 12's to go from 50-70 or 80 Hz... but even then it's not going to sound as good as if you just had the 12's or the 15 playing on it's own

The main concern with mixing sub sizes and types is cancellation. Basically sonic waves trying to battle over movement and cancelling each other out.

so ur pretty much sayin its pointless.

like the 15 will jus drown out the 12's ?

that's why I say to use each sub size/type for specific frequencies. otherwise you'll get funny response and possible loss of output.

You may look into some Elemental Designs equipment... Absolutely awesome equipment for the pricepoint it's at...

www.edesignaudio.com

You even get a discount for being a ScionLife user... type "forum" in their search bar and you'll see the forum discounts.

i'll peep the site

like I said, enclosure design and crossovers are going to be your friend in this situation. Those will help you seperate the frequencies being produced through each speaker
