In the sprit of christmas, I am asking those that show up to bring a new unwrapped toy to the meet. I will take these to a local charity. I also notice that there are several here that have yet to donate to the scionlife toy drive. I know that our numbers are not that large, but it would be great to have the majority donating to this worthy cause. EVERY CHILD WANTS A HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

to let everyone know where the toys r going, the dealership is in cooperation with a local charity by the name of Jimmy Murphey. it is a project that was started by his mother b4 she died when she was turned down for assistance. jimmy has since taken over the project and collects donations of all kinds to help those less fortunate. it is all done with the help of volunteers. now thru dec 20 we will be accepting new unwrapped toys to be given to jimmy and his worthy cause that stays in cabarrus county. if u cannot make it to the meet but would still like to donate, u can do so by just dropping ur donation off here at the dealership from now until dec 20. if u cant make it, and dont live too far away, ill come and get it.

CONCORD, N.C. – The underprivileged in Concord and surrounding areas know they can count on at least one thing during the Christmas season – a hot meal prepared, and in many cases delivered, by an unassuming neighbor named Jimmy Murphey.

For more than 30 years Murphey has turned donated items into enough food to feed 10,000 people, and has given out toys and clothes to hundreds of families. He may be the closest thing North Carolina has to Santa Claus.


Jimmy Murphey tries to make Christmas merrier by giving a hot meal, toys and clothing to the needy.

But this year is a little different, after some earlier scheduling problems Murphey’s Christmas Meal will go on as planned at Barber-Scotia College thanks to an unknown good Samaritan. But the toy room, which is all but bare, still needs some help.

“I need at least 10 or 20 times more,” Murphey said. “Last year I had people from all over town coming here looking for toys and I’m doing my best to try to make sure that these people who need these things get them.”

He’s now looking for any and everyone willing to donate toys to help make Christmas bright. Murphey said he remembers growing up during the depression and only getting a bag of fruit and a few pieces of candy for the holiday. He said that’s not good enough today.


Murphey needs lots more toys to give out to children this holiday season.
“Today they have to have something besides fruit. They want a toy or whatever,” he said. “It is very good to see their faces and their parents’ faces when they come and receive the goodies that I have.”

Each year his Christmas giving totals several times his income. So what drives a 76-year-old to go to such lengths to make sure his neighbors are taken care of each Christmas?

Murphey said that’s why he was put on the Earth.

i dropped off the toys on wednesday night before i left town. the guy didnt know there was a toy drive at all. it was funny just seeing his face. wish i was there---ya'll are always fun.

we had a good turnout thus far with 13 cars showing up. glad to see more new faces showing up. thanks for those that brought toys. for those that didnt, u can still bring ur donation of a new unwrapped toy to the dealership by dec. 20. the next couple months the meet will be determined closer to the first sun based on weather, etc. hope everyone has happy holidays if i dont see u anytime soon.
