Well no turbo kits for the xB are CARB exempt yet... So you will either have to face the chance of getting busted and all that stuff, wait for a Greddy to maybe get there trubo kit CARBed or not get one at all... You could always move out of Cali and have no worries ... I say buy a ZPI and take your chances or move.. Sorry wish I had better news for you..but life is so and thank Cali for the strict laws..

Good idea...

Well put the pulley on that will help with faster revs, I have read that there is a throttle body plate exstension that adds a few more hp... past that you would have to do internal work and spend thousands upon thousands of dollars... Best bet is to just save up for the property and a turbo..

The Greddy kit is Carb Exempt, check it out on their website. As long as you don't remove the foil sticker on the pre-tuned e-manage, it is 50 state legal including Carb approved. I know cause I just bought it.

however though, something is puzzling me about that greddy kit. Its not listed on the CARB website for exemt aftermarket turbos. Nothing for our car is listed there (in terms of forced induction) so its kinda worrying me. Could you expand on what they told you and so fourth? thanks!

Hmm along the same lines there...

I live in North Carolina for now because thats where "the man" has told me i will live.. If i get my car registered there then come back to California... i dont have to register in California right? Second question... does that mean i just have to go by North Carolina laws aka i can add whatever i want to my car so long as it follows NC rules?

:fingers crossed:

the only problem with those smog places is you better make sure that they still do that, and how much u gotta slip em. becuase most all shops now days are wired directly to the dmv main computers and report the smog test your car gos through.

no its a regular smog check, no slipping anything. Its just that there are some remote parts of cali that dont require really strict smog so they do it legally but almost anything can pass. i dont know what those rules are exactly but i know its legit.

Im pretty sure if Greddy got the xB kit thru CARB exemption, you would have seen somthing on the forums.. Vendors would be coming out with some specials for all the Cali people who have been waiting on this to happen. But hey you never know.. check the CARB website and see.

The Greddy kit is NOT exempt yet. I check every so often. The Greddy website simply states that SOME of their kits have CARB exemption. You can see exactly which kits by going to the ARB website.

I have stated in these forums several times what I heard directly from Greddy at SEMA. At that time (November) they were "looking into" getting CARB exemption for the xB turbo. "Looking into." But he did say it as in if they were giving it very serious consideration. He also stated that they weren't even thinking about it for the supercharger.
