Default Exhaust Regret?

Anybody out there regret getting their exhaust/intake on their tC due to it being to loud now? I really want to get i/e when I get my tC this spring, but I don't want my wife or I to really regret it because it gets too loud to talk or wakes up the neighbors because I leave pretty early for work in the morning.

I say you nix the exhaust and work on the intake. The exhaust can be annoyingly loud at times. Back in high school I would have gotten one, but I don't see the need for one now.

if your worried about volume of the exhaust, pick up a borla/trd/precision muffler axleback. They give just enough bark to know that you have an exhaust, but aren't annoying whatsoever.

Those sound like what I am looking for. I want something that has a low rumble and that you know it's there but I don't want one that wakes up the neighborhood. I also don't want to sound like a ricer either. Where can I pick up the exhausts that you mentioned? (besides the TRD obviously)

Ive had enough with loud exhausts! I purchased a Gsxr 600 a couple months ago and the previous owner had a D&D Exhaust on it and it pushed over 160 DB's Screaming loud!

Rip off the D&D and get yourself a nice 2bros, yosh, or hindle. I hate D&D with a passion. I have a full 2bros on my CBR600 and it has a lower rumble to it, but when I open it up and crack the throttle to 12500 rpms, I'll wake up the dead I swear.

I'm not getting an exhaust for my tC for the reason that I don't want to increase the sound volume of it at all. My last car had an exhaust, and I hated it after a few months.

There are several ways you can go.
1. forget about the exhaust
2. look for companies such as Greddy and Tanabe, I know they both make nice sounding mufflers that add a nice growl but don't sound like a rice rocket
3. Some companies like HKS and Apex'i offer special silencers, some are even adjustable.
4. I bought a strup exhaust for my xB and thought it was great until I drove from washington DC to Connecticut. I ordered a silencer from Strup, and now I have whatever I feel like when I feel like.
Good luck, but I am sure you won't need it.

Thanks, great advice! I have always seen the silencers in catalogs and on internet stores but I wondered how well they work. I had also been looking at the Tanabe exhaust because I liked the look of it and it wasn't quite as expensive as some of the others (I am really not looking for performance, just the look and sound that I like)

I don't know about the tC but my friend has the tanabe, barely audiable even when he gets on it. Also if you drive a automatic expect the exhaust to drone.

x2^

i picked up a greddy sp2 about two weeks ago and it is subtle. it is far from ricey and is nice and smooth, very low tone. i got it from PG MOTORING here in LA, they were cool guys and gave me a pretty good price. check out his profile or drop him a PM, "PG_BOX".

let us know what you decided to go with.

I'm actually getting two Vibrant Performance 18" bottle type resonators added to my ZPI cat-back to bring the sound back to a respectable sporty note.

I'd say that even the borla/trd/precision muffler may be too loud for some. It's really subjective and depends on your specific situation.

I just installed the TRD axleback on my tC and it's a bit too much for my daily driving/commute.

Best advice would be to listen to clips of diff. exhausts and ride in other cars that have exhausts and decide for yourself.
