Default autometer DPPS gauge (installed PICs)

Hi guys looking at buying this gauge from auto meter http://www.autometer.com/cat_accesso...st.aspx?pid=47

it says that it works with a 5-6 pulse ignition signals, i wanted to make sure the TC has this type of signal before buying it. I talked with summit racing tech, auto meter tech and even Toyota dealer and no one can say yes or no, auto meter started talking all crazy tech words i was like WTF. but in the end he said they done no testing on TC but he thinks it would work!! what do you guys think! i am just putting this gauge and boost in for the S/C

thanks

Wow! So no one knows anything about this? No one ever hooked up a rpm gauge?

Well anyways I orded it and got it in last night but have not yet tryed to install waiting for my dual pod but looking at it! It only has 4 wires red - power , black - ground, green- goes to positive place of the coil , and blue someting about brake light negitive spot? But don't seem to hard, any idea or does this make more sence now? Thanks if you can help!

Sorry if there is a lot of bad grammer I'm using a cell phone while at work!

Default HELP

Ok guys! i got everything instilled BUT the digital rpm the autometer dual gauge pod fit perfect as a replacement by the way! who ever cut theirs to make it fit was not thinking! ill take pics later...ANY ways this gauge is driving me crazy it has 4 wires and 2 are easy ground and positive DONE now i have 2 more i have blue (break light "positive" should be easy follow the break peddle) but the green one ( goes to negative out put on coil) well i went to the dealer today to try get wire diagram, and or color of wires i need to find! they were some what helpful. but since are cars have 4 coils also makes me think it wont read right from there so the other option for green wire it Tack out put i figure since are car have stock rpm gauge that we have a out put wire running from that back of it this should work as well but i need the color of this wire or witch one it is! any ideas?

has any one installed a rpm gauge on there TC yet hahaha!

thanks for any help or ideas before i just go do it!

You can either run it to the ecu, or run it to coil one......
you only hook it up to one coil......hence revolution....everytime that one cylinder moves up and down is one revolution meaning all cyliders have completed one full rev..........I installed a tach in my Tacoma, I chose to tie in to the ECU....but you need to find out the wire colors....

Yeah, Cant tell you the color.....
but from the tach, you have 4 wires, one for 12v supply, one for ignition, one for ground and one for the coil.

good luck....I wish I could mount a pillar pod.....stoopid side airbags.....Im looking to get the ATI center pod for mine.

WOW thanks! imsono___un that will help a lot i read the first few pages and i think i found the colors i needed! i was about to buy that too but i desided not too after a while!

tCTaco...I almost got the ATI pod too i even made my own out of fiberglass first was not happy with it and decided to go with Autometer and i am very happy now but having a side airbag may be a bit of a issue even though i heard it comes out from the head liner.

thanks! I think ill try hooking it up tomorrow now! ill let you guys know how it goes.

Nice, where did you get the paint from ? the color looks pretty close. Also how was the fit ? I have the cc one and the bottom does not fit the way I want si I was thinking of getting the autometer one.

The Fitment is great! the instructions tell you to place it over your stock A-piller and use these plugs and drill into stock A-piller t mount it. i did not like the idea i just used the pod as a direct replacement for the A-piller and it fit perfect. no gaps or any thing and as far as getting it to stay ill have to take pictures it hard to say how i did it. For the Color i took a plastic part of the hatch that is the same color as the A-piller took it to a Orilleys that has a pint station and left it over night to get color match and placed in a regular spray can! it cost me 20$ not bad. I will take more pictures and post them tonight if i can on how it mounted and the gauge working it pretty nice very accurate!

more pics and fitment!

If you look close that the red circles those are the black plugs it came with that will snap it in place i decided to drill though the black liner on the side of the door there and though the edge of the pod behind it to hold it up and unless i show you or tell you to look at it you would never see it! it a real clean install.

Here are some more of it working the small version if you want the big go to my page http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2515309/2

in that last pic you can change the shift light color to about 7 different colors i like green! it also comes with 4 shift points and a lunch point! and few other option i still have to learn!
