So we ordered and put $500 down on the xB on October 30th.
My dad called me to say the bill for the rest of the payment came in the mail today.

Is this any indication as to how soon the box will arrive???

6 weeks puts me at December 11th.
8 weeks puts me right on Christmas day!! :D

normally your down payment holds the car and you don't pay the balance until you take delivery of it. why do they need payment now? once they have your money they are in no hurry, they might sell it to someone else and tell you it hasn't arrived yet.

 

Hmm...thats interesting.

The guy we were working with at the dealer was going to take our downpayment and hold our order until the latest date he could before production stops. I've got another semester of living in downtown Chicago where I can't keep the box cuz of parking issues. So that makes the xB more or less a driveway ornament at my parents house until May. (I say ornament...they say eyesore )

Maybe thats why they took full payment now...because no one (except me!) is in any hurry to get the xB.

Or...maybe its here and I'm in for a big suprise when I go home this weekend!!!

 

The down payment is just that .... a down payment. It holds the car until it arrives at the dealership. This way they have a pretty good idea that you will take delivery of the car once it arrives.

On a side note .... my dealership had my down payment ( not deposited ) for 4 months while i waited for my box. When it arrived i took back the $500 check.
