Default Offsets...

Well, I don't even have my tC yet (should have it soon) but I'm already scoping out new wheel and tire combos.

I'd like to stay with a 17x7 wheel, but am trying to figure out some offset issues. Can anyone tell me what the stock offset is? I can't seem to find this anywhere (with any certainty).

And, part two of the question -- what is a good offset to go with (staying with 17x7 and probably 225 width tires) that will fill out the wheel well, give it a wider stance, without ANY rubbing situations. This is probably a newb question, but reading countless of threads I couldn't find anything on this topic that fully answers my questions.

I know that most aftermarket wheels tend to have a bigger offset. If I'm figuring correctly, won't that bring the tires more inward and make the stance more narrow? Any recommendations on good wheels (personal experience) to stay in the 17x7 size and give it a great look without going broke?

use the search button next time....but to answer your question...

stock is 45 i believe and id tell you that you can safely go to a 35-40 offset with wider tires to avoid issues, i have 18x8's with a 35 offset and they are flush with the wheel well so 35 is sweet

the stock offset is +45.

if your gonna go with 224/45 tires than i would go with a +35 offset, they will fit very nice, im sure you can even go lower if you want, you can go as low as offset as you want if you dont lower the car, but to a certain degree it may upset the suspension.

if i were you, i would get +35 offset and leave it at that.

as far as wheel choices go, enkei has alot of wheels that are 17x7 and they look pretty good imho. check out www.edgeracing.com for alot of cheap wheels and good choices.

If the stock offset is +45, you can safely run around +30 with a 1 inch wider wheel, as long as you're not on the lowest setting of ground controls.

Are you sure you want to run 225 tires on a 7" wide wheel?
No problems, I am just asking if you are sure; 225 is a little wide for a 7" wheel.

I have some 17X7 +35 Dunlop CP-R in 5X100 coming over from Japan as we speak if you're into that kind of thing..

a +30 will be pushing it on a 17x8 wheel. im sure hte wheel will sit flush, but then you wont be able to fit the appropriate tire underneath, you will have to stretch it.

im thinking i may go with a 18x8 with a +35 all around with a 225/40 series tire.

im sure it will be stretched, but nothing the tire cant handle, now when people stretch a 215 or even 205 tire, that is gettin a little too crazy for me.
