Im going to be getting headers, and I was going to go with DC headers, but now Im looking at JDM Chrome 4-1 High Performance Header..... Any one have any input on this matter?

You should probably be wary of anything for the tC that is 'JDM.'

 

Why do you say I should be wary of JDM?

 

Yeah if you look at the pics closely on those JDM stainless ones its like they just sprayed chrome paint on some flat finished ones... Get OBX or something.

 

Be wary of products for the tC marked as JDM. It's one of those things like'HID' halogen bulbs that should raise a red flag.

 

Oh i see, so like with HID, (be there done that) they are bound to be Sh**. More likely to ruin something else on the car, wast of money, thanks.

Guess Ill be looking into the DC header. unless one knows anything bad about them?

 

If I was buying a header I'd go MMW. It costs a bit more, but it's the only (i think) true 4-2-1 and it is it's own S-pipe replacement.

DC headers are known to develop rust. Sometimes the coating comes off and exposes the mild steel beneath. Better off getting a stainless to start, and then coating that.

 

I think most headers produce the same amount of hp. I know im prolly gonna get flamed for this but its true. 1or2 extra hp is not gonna make a difference to a daily driver. Plus you wont feel the difference. Thats why I got the megan's. Cheap and serves the purpose!

 

You are right, except mmw headers are proven to produce more power.

 

quick question about the mmw header, will it fit on a 07 tc model? cz there are comments left on the actual item and they said they had to weld it a bit for it to fit? =\ im not really car technical n im afraid to weld anything =X or even have someone else do it >.<

 

i have the alphaworks header. in my opinion they are the best one out other then the MMW but those are very pricey. you have an 07, so make sure which ever you order fits because they changed the exhaust manifold on the 07 model, you might also want to look into geting anti-foulers and drill one of them out to put in your second O2 senser so you don't fhrow a CEL

 

Pricey, but it's an S-pipe replacement as well.

 

The reason JDM should be feared when referring to the tC is because the tC isn't a JDM car. Anyone that markets their products as 'JDM spec' or some other load of trash is just trying to get the uninformed to buy their product.

Think of it like JDM parts on a Camaro or something.



As for the MMW being 'proven' to give more gains, it hasn't been proven at all. The dyno on MMW's site shows their header/down-pipe combo and an intake, while every other header on the market is just the header.

Slap any combination of header, down-pipe, and intake on a car and I guarantee you will be within 3hp + or - of the gains posted on MMW's website.

 

 

sorry for the noob Q but what is the A/F like w/ aftermarket header?

 

well i have the dc race headers and i think their great. i never heard of them rusting before before because their powder coated so i think thats enough protection as it is for high temps. but i paid 300 through my local muffler shop.
