i have had water leakage in the passerger side floor was told at the dealer that there is a filter that does not come with the Xb that will stop this and that they will sell me one for $64 has anyone else had this problem

try and check your evap drain hose on the passenger side under the dash... might have come loose, causing water to leak on the floor. as for the filter..I think thats more for clearing the air in the cabin ( dust and allergens) i may be wrong tho..

ditto it happened to me , its a small rubber hose - youl notice it only leaks when you have the a/c on

yeah.. water will be the a/c unit hose came loose... or maybe bad windsheild seal/replacement or something else....
wouldnt be the airfilter tho.. you can make one of those your self for $5...
check for the diy in the tech section

It all makes sense....
1. The dealer fixed the source of the water that was filling the floorboards with water.
2. He unstopped a clog. It could have been a clogged AC evaporator drain tube, or a clogged fender drain (so they say here).
3. And a cabin filter could prevent it happening again.

If it was a clog, the evaporator drain does not clog, its tube just comes loose. So it was not that.
It must have been a pesky fender drain hole that was clogged. Has anyone found one of those yet?
But it is good to know that a cabin air filter can be of help.

same thing happened to me on my drivers side turns out they un cloged filter for the a/c and hasnt happened since

just noticed a damp passenger floor board and wondered about condesation leakage.

The dealer is not being truthful with you. The filter in question is a fine partical filter for
the air coming into the car. It only cost $12 at Autozone and is the same part number as
on the Echo. Have them look up "cabin air filter". Remove the glove box and there is
a drawer in the air box where you put the filter. Yes you can make your own filter for
cheap and I have tried it when the good filters were $24. But for only $12 I think the
good filters work better.

its not the filter - you dont need a air filter you need to reconnect the the small rubber hose going to the passanger floor board - the air filter does just that it filters air nothing more check the hose

PROBLEM:
Water enters the driver's side door and dribbles onto the floor when it rains. The water accumulates on the outside of the door sill and makes its way into the car. Water entry is documented by placing newspaper on the floor, flush against the base of the door sill.

SOLUTIONS? NONE SO FAR.
At first Toyota/Scion denied there was a problem because they couldn't duplicate it. It leaked for me but not for them when they did the hose test. Maddening & frustrating.
Recently they finally determined that water enters when the car is on a slight slope towards the street gutter. The slope is only 5 degrees, following the camber of the street.
The door seals have been replaced twice. The car still leaks.
A vapor barrier was installed in the door. The car still leaks.
Carpeting was replaced after intial complaint -- soaked & moldy. The car still leaks.
The A/C is not the cause of the problem. The car still leaks.
