For carry on you are limited to the amount of liquids that you can bring on board. You are allowed 1 clear ziplock bag (1 quart size) and each container in that bag is limited to 3 ounces. They will confiscate anything else, and they will not allow weapons or lighters in your carry on.

Good info! Thanks for posting.
Screw the TSA. They have stolen enough of my belongings in past travel experiences. Pack your suitcase with whatever you want (within reason) and have it checked. Your bags are not subject to the same rules if they are checked versus carry-on. You are more likely to be screwed with, have your luggage messed up, be delayed, and still lose items if you have something the TSA considers "questionable" in your carry-on luggage. The TSA can consider anything to be "questionable" no matter how ridiculous it may seem.
Save yourself the trouble and check your luggage. It's one less thing to be bothered about at the security checkpoint. That is, unless you are of Middle-Eastern decent and have 100 lbs. of TNT strapped to your chest. You can just walk right on through and proceed to your gate. The TSA doesn't want to be responsible for any possible "racial profiling".
