hey everyone just wondering what you guys think is the best way to build a tc engine in order to raise the boost on the turbo tc, such as pistons. Is dezod pistons better or zpi for a turbo tc?
Also wat other engine parts do you guys recommend?

it matters what turbo kit you have, becuz companies mostly test their products with their own, so they are made and tuned to work best with their own.

 

well i perfer to get the greddy which is about 8.5 boost or so so wouldnt, the dezod or zpi work well since they claim 450hp to 500 hp and i want to boost mine to maybe 10 or 16 at races during track days so i want a strong engine so i dont blow out and embarrass my self thnx

 

imo, i wouldn't run the boost too high....16 psi, damn, thats a bit much.....i know that the zpi at 9.5 psi with the bigger turbo gets you to about 300 whp....which is plenty for a race, or on the track....if you're looking to get more, than i would say you would have to spend lots of money refortifying the engine, which would seem better for a long term project...

 

well still 10 psi wouldnt hold that long on stock internals, so what pistons would you guys recommend?

 

Obviously I like our pistons best. Both pistons are pretty nice though, and will get you to most power levels you want to shoot for.

I've been at 10psi for a LONG time now, occasionally hitting 11-12psi. It's been this way since June and my gas here is only 91octane compared to my 93 back at home. The tune plays a major role in the longevity of your motor.

 

o how much hp do you get from 12 psi jw, also how much do your pistons cost and do you think they will work well with the greddy turbo kit?

Not sure what 12psi will make. I haven't dyno'd it at that power before. At 10.8psi I made 296.5whp and 302wtq on a dynomite dyno (load based dyno).

Our pistons go for $599 and come high-temp coated. They meant for extreme abuse and temperatures so they're extremely reliable. I'm not sure what ZPI does for their pistons or their specs, maybe the could shed light on their product as well. I'd like to get these forums friendly and helpful again.

Do you even have new tires yet? Your goal seems only to be to go fast and that's a very half baked plan.

 

Any aftermarket FI built piston will work well with a Greddy turbo kit, or any other kit for that matter.

 

my plan isnt to only go fast, my plan is to find out how to build my car and then go fast. thats y im askin about pistons. greddy turbo is my last thing. I do have new tires, and I did purchase a few suspension equipment its now the engines turn

 

Just make sure you know what you are tackling before buying pistons. It is not a 600 dollar investment. You still need to pull the engine, as a in chassis swap is a pain on a tC. Get someone or maybe you can yourself install the pistons. New gaskets, beraings, studs, etc..... to get running again. Then your car will run like crap until you either a tune or b turbo it and tune it.

You may already know all this but we have had a lot of calls lately and it seems people do not realize the work involved in a piston change.

How much psi on stock piston do you think TC's can take I have had mine at 11-12 so far.
