So if I understand correctly, a limited number of people will be seeing the new Xb sometime this month. However, photos of any kind will not be allowed during this event.

So..........This begs the question..........WHEN DO WE GET TO SEE THE NEW Xb???? :tap:

If none of the Miami folk manage to snap a pic, rumors have it that the Chicago Auto Show will be the unveiling. It takes place Feb 9-18, 2007. I will likely be there as well.

Thanks

Thanks for tip about Photobucket. Here is my version of what the 2008 xB could look like based on some of the speculation I have gotten from this site. Please excuse the crappy photoshop stuff and the missing door handles. It's my first drawing of a car.

anyone caught with the camera and leaks it out will probably get into ALOT of trouble..

i wouldn't risk it.

better to just wait another month or 2.

You're nuts! The worst they can do is throw you out of the event.

bones heal, chicks dig scars, and glory is forever. That being said, it's not likely they'll hire the Mafia or Bandidos for security. Imagine being the one that gets the first pic on the internet! Fame and fortune are yours for the taking! Ok, maybe just a little bit of fame :lalala:

My opinion ONLY!

On paper, and officially they need to say no photography.

In reality, the only reason they would invite SO MANY people from a forum like this to an unveiling event is if they wanted images of the new cars out. The fact that they want to keep it quiet will only mean an even bigger buzz about what they are doing. Scion/Toyota marketing people aren't stupid. They know exactly what they are doing.

Mark my words... photos will be leaked to the internet (one way or another) after the Miami event.

take a picture without flash, use someone elses computer or a library's computer and make a crap Email and make a crap photobucket account, upload and post. none trackable that way =).

Scion already knew of the risk beforehand. They won't slap anyone with a cease and desist letter. The official unveiling is only two months away. For all we know, the cars are already made and stored in a "secret" location in Eur... Keep in mind if the vehicles are coming overseas, they have to go through customs. And don't forget about MPG ratings. The EPA test new model vehicles prior to being sold in the market. Someone lookup recent FTC trademark filings made by Toyota. The most recent is the "F" as in IS-F emblem and design.

^The pic: Looks like Scion's answer to the Mazda5.

You won't see pictures until the Chicago auto show. I keep saying that and nobody believes me...odd.

As for Keitaro, they haven't started production of the new models yet. That's why there will be such a delay. They are still cranking out the current design xA and xB until the end of the year. THEN they will retool and produce the new cars.

There will be a two-month period where you won't be able to buy a new xB and an even longer period without the xA. If you want my opinion THAT'S when anybody thinking about buying a new one should sell theirs off.

Current model xBs should run out around the end of February. Many dealerships will be out at the middle of February though.

Sell it in mid to late March and buy a scooter for a month.

if your region sells a lot of cars you will still have pull to get cars all the way till the new ones come out.

Hmm, so I shouldn't trade-in my xB now for a 4Runner? Wait ~March and then buy the 4Runner? My mileage is getting up there. The longer I wait, the less I can get money out of it. I still want to know more about the new Scion models but I rather wait 2-years after official release to buy one.

Camera phones are banned. They have said that there will be a camera concierge, so they can be brought to the event, just not in it. The phones without cameras, well I don't know on those.

And then what? They can't confiscate the phone, and they aren't going to rough you up. The worst is that they'll ask you to leave, and then you post your pics on the internet to be a hero.

Depending on what they had everybody sign, it may not be that simple.

They can threaten you with enough legal action to rethink that whole internet hero fame.

What law would you be breaking? Legal action? It would have to be a federal court.

Scion has better lawyers than me. I am not going to try it.

I've been to small cocnerts to where no pics/camera phones were allowed. They did check everyone's phone, and if you had a camera phone they wouldn't let you in until you got rid of it...So it is has been done befoere, but who's to say that Scion will go to that trouble

I am guessing that the security will be pretty tight. I am taking my phone, and my camera. I have been told that there will be a camera concierge there, and I expect that I will be required to surrender them. Car manufacturers tend to be quite sensitive about having their products leaked. If my assumptions are wrong, you will have pictures this week.

The law is the least of your worries, if I was toyota, and I know they've already thought of and done it. They'd make everyone sign an NDA as part of the entry form. So, if you take a picture of the new Xb replacement, while you may have internet glory, and commited no crimes, you are in breach of contract, and can be sued for everything you own. BTW in civil litigation NDA breaches are usually open and closed cases.

RTon20s
12-12-2006, 07:46 PM
There are easy ways around an NDA in this case. Anonymous postings from an account that uses a bogus email address and sent from an internet cafe where you pay cash can not be traced back.

We all just have to sit back and wait to see what happens.

my guess is that they are spending something like 500,000 - 1,000,000 on this event . . . i doubt they'll skimp on security . . . seems like a triviality.

I will give anyone who sneaks a pic out of the new xB $1. You won't be photographing these cars. It just won't happen, and if you do, they will take your phone. I bet you even sign some agreement before walking through the door.

yeah a million bux and fly by night security . . . ain't gonna happen, lol.

I called the people who are running the show in Miami because I am thinking of buying an xB. I was told no Cameras will be allowed. I also heard rumors that "electronic tint/shades" for the glass windows and sunroof will be available as an option for the 2008 xB. Can some of those attending the Miami Show... check this out, please?
