Default 350 miles ohhhh boy

ok i have a 2007 superwhite tc with only 350 miles on it, and i literally get like 17 mpg, and my dads 454 SS chev gets about the same!

Considering its winter here and i know that running the heater and stuff could be causing this, but will it get better once the motor gets broken in a bit more? I always get better MPG in the summer when i dont have to run the heat/AC all the time.

I have searched this topic but for some reason the search button just brings up results that have nothing to do with what i am asking.

Thanks All! - Jigg

it'll get better once your engine is broken in but with the heat on it will eat gas

That's really odd because I started off getting ~25 mpg when I first bought my tC. Granted, it's never really cold here in SoCal, 17mpg seems to be unusually low!

does the heater use more gas? i use it all the time in my civic and still get more about 33mpg

i dont own a scion but when i got my tsx, i got really crappy gas mileage, around 17 like you, now that it has 3k miles im averaging 26mpg. Should get better as you get more miles. Mine should be increasing still since honda engines take longer to break in. I heard around 10k then its fully broken in,,,

i've gotten about 25-28 mpg ever since i've owned my 07. no matter how i drive, or if the a/c is on or what not, it seems to be about the same every tank.

mechanically, only the A/C uses gas b/c it runs off the engine.
17MPG is very low, also your area might by using "winter gas" already...... and MPG is usually lower in the winter due to that.

I have about 200 miles on mine and if I keep it up, i'll get around 24-27 MPG.

and Yes, having the heat on SUCKS up ur gas like crazy, literally u can see the needle drop while driving....

so i recommend turning ur temputture control to heat and turn off the vent button which allows hot air from the engine to come inside.

ur prob getting bad milage cause all that cold air

What the heck are you guys talking about? Heat sucking gas? I dunno bout you, but this would be a MAJOR downgrade from what ALL cars have been doing for the last half century!

And you're needle will not drop while revving, as it does not use much gas at all. There is no load on the engine. . . are you holding the throttle at red line or something?

Somebody's been having too much of the peace pipe. . .

haha. I usually just set the HVAC **** to hot and don't turn on the fan at all. Just open the vent.

That way you don't instantly dry out everything in the car, including people's throats and eyes

Another way to avoid drying things out is to leave the AC off, as it removes moisture from the air when it is on.
