Default question about downhill shifting....

Has anyone noticed their car kind of jerky when going downhills? When I let go of my gas going down a hill, my car feels like its braking and when i press down the gas pedal, it gets kind of jerky... would this be normal? I've got 9,300 miles on my car with only 1 mod, i guess you could say it's a mod, but its the k&n air filter.

yes, it is normal. when you coast down a hill in gear, it is called engine braking. the gravity is pulling the car down the hill and spinning the gear which is revving up the engine. the gas pedal is touch because it is extremely easy to accelerate down a hill than on flat roads or up a hill.

Thanks. I appreciate your comment and help. I come from a Honda Civic, this is my first Toyota, and they drive like two totally different cars.

Yeah. . . the Honda should have done it too, but it may not have been as sensitive.
