View Full Version : Which shortshifter should I chooose?
hoisanjai 12-08-2006, 06:34 AM I have read through 13 pages and I still don't know what to pick.
TRD - same height but shorter throw, but then i want shorter height too.
TWM SS 2 - I want this because it has a shorter height and a shorter throw, but I read
about the 1-2 grinding which is scaring me. I also got the 10% student discount from it.
ARK - I haven't heard much from people talking about it. But it comes with a knob. The height doesn't change much but it has shorter throws.
CC- This one is comparable to the TWM but I read in another thread about the tranny ripping it out and the price scares me. I am scared about the quality of it.
B&M- The height is shorter but no difference. I do not like.
Someone please help me lol!!!
Chapman 12-08-2006, 06:49 AM I would recommend the TWM Stage 2. The throws are pretty short and the height is adjustable to your liking (with my TWM Bombshell knob). I'm not too sure about the 1-2 grinding you're talking about though.
hoisanjai 12-08-2006, 01:47 PM who hear had the problem with TWM?
CuRiOuSfIsH 12-08-2006, 02:27 PM B&M is about the stock height but throws are reduced significantly. If youre into short throws with short height, get TWM or CC. But TWM along with ARK are on the pricey side.
It's ultimately what you want for the price and from the short shifter. They all pretty much do the same.... some are built a little different.
ryan9800 12-08-2006, 05:40 PM I would recommend the TWM Stage 2.
Mine wors great!
hoisanjai 12-08-2006, 06:26 PM so for TWM Stage 2 no one is having that 1-2 grinding problem. How's CC everyone with CC have great experience with it?
ryan9800 12-08-2006, 06:32 PM No just push in the clutch! It works fine for me. Somtimes I will get excited and try to shift without pushin the clutch in all the way and we all know what that does.
But TWM Stage 2 works great and works well with the leather TRD shift noob. Then you will not need another shift boot cause that noob fits perfect. it is a bit shorter then the original noob.
Ryan - How much is the TWM S2? And did you install it?
ryan9800 12-08-2006, 06:42 PM http://www.twmperformance.com/shortshifters/scionshortshifters/sciontcshortshifters.htm
No I did not install it I had my Tech do it for me. Thank god. Cause he even said it was a bitc*!!!!!
But it is way better.
hoisanjai 12-08-2006, 06:46 PM for the CC the height reduction is not that significant,, which TWM did u pick did you pick the one with the bushings and stuff...like what package?
BionicJuic3 12-08-2006, 06:48 PM 100% go with the TMW Stage 2 SS love it and easy installation... looks awsome as well
ryan9800 12-08-2006, 06:48 PM No, But i hear the bushing kit is nice to have too.
hoisanjai 12-08-2006, 06:53 PM 100% go with the TMW Stage 2 SS love it and easy installation... looks awsome as well did u get the bushing kit? if I go TWM i would get a sparco shift knob for it..
azepolyn 12-08-2006, 07:08 PM cheers to me for bein the only one to vote for ARK
height is somewhat shoter at the top, reduction is between 20% - 35% depending on the gear.
downside is the price, I believe its significantly more expensive than the others.
Does anyone have prices??? I know where the search button is, but I'm too lazy. Actually I'm just groggy since I just got home from having a partial thyroidectomy about 25 hours ago.
;-(
Oh, thanks for the link for the TWM. You said "Thank god. Cause he even said it was a bitc*!!!!! "
I saw mandos did a DIY for (CC?) and it looked like a hassle.
How long did it take your tech?

I think CC is around $70-$80
B&M is around $100-$130 depending on the place.... and it comes with base bushings.
chrischoi 12-08-2006, 09:49 PM you said you want this.... twm2. so go buy one. it's not about what we care about. it's what you want.
BionicJuic3 12-08-2006, 09:53 PM x2

twm
+shorter height
-the same trow
=buy b&m cut it short, made new tread.
SupaWhite 12-10-2006, 08:02 AM I got the CC shifter and it's been great so far. Noticeably shorter than the stock shifter and definitely no more slushiness in shifting.
Read the dyi on this forum and I installed this sucker on my own w/o a hitch.
hoisanjai 12-10-2006, 08:36 AM TWM STAGE 2 and CC are TIED now
BYeRhONe 12-10-2006, 07:43 PM i have no complaints about the CC. It slams into gear. At first its hard but then i guess i got used to it so shifts like butter now.
install was a pain but a good experience.
jwaggz82 12-10-2006, 11:17 PM I have the twm - look at my profile for the pic
