6) clear coat
7) clear coat
get some plastic lining sheets from a hardware store, and staple them to your rafters in your garage. they should overlap each other. they should be long enough to go from the rafters to the floor, plus a few inches.
at the bottom of each sheet, use a 1" piece of pvc, roll the edge of the sheet over the pvc and staple it. this way you can roll your 'booth' out of the way when not in use, and the weight of the pvc will keep the sheet in place on the floor.
cut a hole out of the side, and duct-tape a box fan for exhaust.
that's your booth.
prep the area first by misting down everything with water, which will alleviate alot of the dust. minimize your travel in and out of the 'booth'
use a mask.

thanks cherrybox, lol and one more thing what the heck is "Wetsand" i know to primer it, and paint, and adhesion it, but wont the "wetsand" just take the paint off" haha, i dunno lol but im gonna try it tonight.. thanks for everything!
lol, okay.. can SOMEONE tell me what sand paper to get?? for the first process what paper? the primer, than adhesion, than paint.. than what kind of "Wetsand" paper than clearcoat
depends on what you're painting for the first paper...if you're doing something like your dash, you've got more sanding ahead of you...center console, not so much.
you're looking at anything between 200 and 1500 grit, and everything between. there's a lot of sanding involved.

OOOOOOOOO!! hehe, you "Wetsand" with 1500 grit paper to remove any imperfections/bubbles eh? than you polish it to shine it! oh!! so you wetsand after you paint, than clearcoat, OKAY! i think i know now, lol.. wetsand mean slike your sanding while the paints kinda wet right? like even though its not wet, lol.. right? omg i think i finally got it, I THINK! lol but i dont have to sand right? like if i just get some spray paint such as krylon fusion and do, PRIMER.......ADHESION PROMOTER......KRYLON PAINT..... THAN CLEAR COAT thatll work right? because i dont relly care about the stock tecture, this painting is just to hide away all the scratches ive done to my poor center console of the years (CD cases falling and scratching it, my leg is too long and it is rubbing the paint off ) such things like that, lol
uh, no.
wetsanding does not mean sanding while the paint is wet. let the paint cure at least a couple of days. wet the sandpaper with water, and sand out the imperfections.
if you have scratches in your console, for example, you'll want to sand them out, and get the surface slightly rough to really take the paint.

Spray paint has a shelf life of about six months, and it isn't guaranteed that the store is going to keep a regular rotation of stock. When you pick up the can and the mixing ball doesn't move freely in the can after a couple of shakes, the paint is no good. You should also avoid buying your paint at Home Depot/Lowes. That's great for around the house, but it's not going to look so hot in your car. I'm not sure if Krylon makes automotive paint, but even if they do you're not going to find it at those stores. Go to an automotive supplies store for paint.
Lol.. Okay... thanks, i know im stupid, i know, i know... but i went to Car quest last night, and they mixed me up some Navy blue marbleISH black plaint.. its awesome, its like black, than in the sunlight its night crisp midnight blue

That's the way to do it right, though it'll cost you time and money (especially for custom colors). I've had great success lately with Krylon Fusion. Stuff's like magic, seems to adhere well to any clean plastic with no priming, and looks good. Easy to match to the common colors like PW. Not so easy for us poor CM types, unfortunately.
