:) sorry bud, there's no warranty with these slim kits. once they're gone, they're gone.

no warranty at all?!? how come?

cliffud
04-30-2008, 11:11 PM
because the point is to clear them out. it's not something that officially offered as they don't meet mobilehid requirements.

in order for there to be a warranty on it to replace this or that on them, it would mean having these slim ballasts on hand in the future. :)

Ace83 yes, full D2S kits are available... retrofit huh? What do you think about this projector we'll soon be offering for those retrofit projects?

http://mobilehid.com/projectorimages.jpg

It's pretty big but we have a smaller version that will soon be available. Key features include: bixenon output AND adjustable cutoff lines.

:)

We've also got some WICKED cool stuff that needs to cleared out. Will update later.

jambajuice - glad to hear everything went smoothly. :)

benman - open up the air freshener man. :) it's probably one of the more popular ones on the market in the import scene. about the red lights, you can connect those to a 12v source for strobes. :) they blink red so uhmmmmmm, please don't mount them in the grill.

Hey Cliff,

One of the light bulbs started to flicker today. It's weird because when it flickers, the light output doesn't completely turn off. I was wondering if you knew what the problem was?

cliffud
05-19-2008, 04:29 AM
icecoldtc - please take a look at the relay to ensure it is corrosion free. if you have corrosion, i have a few spares and can ship one off to you if you cover the shipping fees.

Guess not. They're blues. Awww. I wanted white ones.

EDIT: So I just installed mine. Are the bulbs supposed to lock in like halogens do? Because I can't seem to push them in any further and/or turn them to lock them in.

cliffud
05-23-2008, 11:24 AM
magnetic - just swap the trim rings from the halogen bulb and the hid bulbs and you should be good to go.

chitowntC - i'd say go with a 4300k or a 5k. 6 at the max.

I had ordered this kit about 7-8 months ago,

I recently started having problems getting the bulbs to ignite when i switch the lights on..

after initial inspection it turns out that the relay in the waterproof kit i was sent has turned to a ball of rust.

This is with electrical tape wrapped on it anyway, because i was fearful from the start.

All i have to say is that its a crap-shoot wondering if my lights will even turn on now, its a guessing game

and it sucks

^i saw for myself!

it really didnt look good, very funny how they advertise that the kit is waterproof, and then something that is covered in tape and remains under the hood still rusts... hmmmmm

I had ordered this kit about 7-8 months ago,

I recently started having problems getting the bulbs to ignite when i switch the lights on..

after initial inspection it turns out that the relay in the waterproof kit i was sent has turned to a ball of rust.

Was it the harness relay that rusted or te one in the ballasts?

harness relay

datdude1119
06-06-2008, 07:46 AM
yeah the HID kit is waterproof, not the harness loll, he said nothing about the relay being water proof, and most people understand relays and wiring need to not get wet lol, get a new one and wrap it in a ballon with electrical tape around the ballon

I agree. If you look on the website under the harness picture in red print it says relay not waterproof.

Iceman04503

You can always put the harness in a bag and tie it up with tape.

I just installed my HID kit and I just wanted to know if I should adjust my headlight so that it points more downward so that I don't get pulled over for blinding a cop. If so how would I do that? I know theres a screw but no screw driver would fit in there.

GammaTNT

Theres something in my way. Do you have a Tc? The metal frame is in the way.

Iceman04503
06-07-2008, 08:02 AM
Maybe I was turning the wrong screw. I have a 07 Tc I was refering to the screw on top of the headlights. Is that it or is it the one located all the way inside?

B2FiNiTY
06-08-2008, 09:03 AM
it could have rusted up because of the electrical tape. the tape itself could have trapped the moisture in there longer than if you would have let it dry off exposed.

hey guys. sorry, been super busy with trips to CA to get you guys COOL stuff in the future. :)

ok- about the relays, yes, they are not waterproof and like any other piece of electronics, they should be kept away from the elements. i have a few spare relays sitting around here so if you want a new one, just paypal $5 to sales@mobilehid.com to cover the cost of 2-3 day priority mail shipping and I'll send one out.

:)

equinox - sorry bud, your new harness is going out tomorrow :(

walterego - sent you a PM :)

06-09-2008, 03:49 PM
I had the same issue with my relay a few months ago. Went into the garage and my lights were on, which was weird, and that next day would flicker to turn on/off.

The relay was heavily rusted. Part of it was due to location (I had it closer to the grill then I should have), and lack of tape.

I bought a new one at Radio Shack for $4 or $5 and installed it, only after using contact cleaners and ensuring the "female end" was entirely dry and clean. Once the new relay was in, re-routed where it sat in the engine bay, heavily taped it, and ensured it sits upright in the bay, so water seeps out of it, and not into it.

No problems since! Just have to be careful! Easy fix if anything should go wrong, it's not a big deal!

cliffud
06-11-2008, 08:10 PM
yeah- you need a new relay buddy. you can pick them up for something like 6-7 bucks at radioshack or paypal over 5 bucks to cover shipping a new one out but you'll have to wait 2-3 days. :(

best bet is to go to radioshack.

For those of you who haven't seen the differences between HID and halogen. Here are some recent photos I took of 2 cars that have the same headlight housings. One has 4300k HID fogs and low beams and the other has stock halogens and yellow fogs.

cliff, i gotta let you know, YOU ARE THE MAN!

install was amazingly simple- i didn't expect it to go so fast. everything was perfect, the only problem was the OEM plug wouldn't fit snug.. it kept sliding out so i had to bend the leads a bit and tape the plugs together. i used electrical tape and two balloons to waterproof the relay. theres a better chance of me getting my girlfriend pregnant than water getting on the relay! other than that- simply amazing!

i am a size large and i really appreciate you sending me a shirt. pics are soon to come.. i am not home right now since i am busy riding around town with my new lights :) but i will be sure to get them up asap.

Cliff. Thanks for meeting up with me last week. It took about 30 minutes to install them (drink break). What a great product. What a big difference. Thanks again. I will spread the word.

got mine today - looking to install but needed to know whats the best way to mount the ballast. What's the best locations that you all have found. This is my first set to install so go easy lol. I want to keep the package because it's so well made lol.

Installed mine on saturday.

I mounted my on the bumper supports using double stick tape and big zip ties (bigger than what comes in the pack).

Here is a pic:

I know when you see it you are going to think you can't get the zip ties in there, but if you angle it at the bottom hole on both sides, you can feed it up slowly and grab the other end with some needle nose pliers and pull it out the top hole.

Then lay down some double stick tape on the support, stick the ballast to that and tighten down the zip tie and it is a secure hold and the ballast is close enough to the lights to wire properly and it is away from view and the elements.

here are some other night shots of the light:

I think once I switch to the 08 lights I will get even better output but I have to check on the bulb type.

I just thought about it but do you have to buy another kit if you go up to say a 6k bulb?

mdMiketC

well if your kit already plugs into your 9006 plug from the car, you will probably just need to buy the 6000k H11 sized bulbs for the kit but you can always ask just to be sure.

Nice install, glad I could help

thanks and your suggestion was right on point. I was going to mount my ballast right under the light but after someone said to hid them because people were getting their hids stolen I figured lets not make it easy and removied the bumper.

Clifford- im making the move out to AZ today to attend ASU and I was thinking if I get a 6000k kit from you, I could just pick up so no shipping is needed. I think this time I'll stick to the headlights and not the fogs like before!

mdMiketC - what temp did you go with and do you have an 08 tc? You light looks brighter but it could be the camera that I have.
