got tue - yes, you get a lifetime warranty if the product fails under normal operation and yes, I can get the 6k out to you by the weekend. I just checked the 8k inventory and I'm all out. :(

So - if you get the 8k, it won't be there in time but my policy is to include a free LED flashlight if I don't have it in stock.

Also...

The next 50 orders now come with a free squash air freshener refill!

http://www.mobilehid.com/images/CSX3_refill.jpg

If anyone just wants the refill - $10 shipped for the first one and $7 for each additional.

question...for the negative and positive wires that taps onto the battery. how do i set it so that it doesnt bounce off when i drive around? just use electrical tape im guessing? any other practical ways...cause what if i need a jump start or something. i thought the bulb had already burnt out on me for a second there but it was just the pos/neg wires that got disconnected!@#

im just wondering though does the parking light have any effect on the color of the light? i believe the actual bulb is a 194. do most of u guys take it out? or replace it with whiter light bulb?

cliffud
06-25-2007, 03:03 PM
got tue - I can't speak for most of the tC owners on what they did with the 194 bulb however if you go on eBay and do a search for Polarg M4, you will find little blue peanut 194 bulbs that give off a white light when turned on.

they're great for removing that yellowish light from your headlights.

What you want are these -

PM'd ya back.

BTW - to save the people from reading 40 pages of info... here's a one post summary of why these kits are the best bang for the buck.

So I firmly believe people should make informed decisions. With that in mind, I thought I would share my findings of extensive testing on HID conversion kits from various manufacturers.

Here are just some of the boxes and ballasts.
http://www.mobilehid.com/boxes.jpg
http://www.mobilehid.com/ballasts.jpg
And as you can tell, there are a lot of copy cats of the ever popular Philips kit.

However, there is one huge design flaw with the Philips kit. It isn't waterproof.

This is what the Philips kit uses to shield the ballast from the elements:

http://www.mobilehid.com/images/philips4.jpg

And this is what is inside:

http://www.mobilehid.com/images/philips3.jpg

These plastic housings can actually trap water in them long after you've washed your car or it has rained and there have been instances where the plastic housings have actually aided in the damaging of the ballast due to it trapping water.

Now if the "industry standard" has flaws, what makes a good HID conversion kit?

I've done extensive testing on many kits including Philips, McCulloch, TechOne, HID Cool, Goldeneye, Klight, Bosch, and even OEM ballasts and the kits I offer are by far, the best bang for the buck. I can honestly only say that because I've tested a lot of kits out there.

My stress test requirements:

1) The ballasts have to be rubber injected. This helps to ensure the ballasts can hold up the elements. I soaked my ballast in a bucket of water for days and it still fired up with no issues. Rubber injected ballasts ensures water will not harm the internals, but it also ensures electronic parts inside will not get jostled around during harsh driving conditions. The Philips kit failed this test, as did the Bosch kit. Other kits failed in other areas and did not make it to the water test.

2) A wire harness must provide power directly from the battery to the ballasts. For safety reasons, I do not believe HID ballasts should connect directly to your headlight plug for power. The IDEAL way is to have the headlight plug trigger a relay and the relay then sends power to the ballasts. The kits I offer have this ideal wiring schematic. All kits, including the popular McCulloch kit, failed this test except for the Philips kit but the Philips kit goes for more than $400 and is not rubber injected.

3) Good quality wiring. I have seen some kits that have really thin gauge wires and cheap looming that you would be ashamed to put on a go-kart. I don't believe in selling cheap crap so even though it costs me more to go with better wiring harnesses, I firmly believe it's worth it. Even then, my prices are so competitively low, my distributors often find themselves marking up prices to well over $350

4) All in one ballasts. This means, no external ignitors. The McCulloch kit failed this test since it has external ignitors. All other kits had integrated ignitors in their ballasts.

5) Universal wire connections with Philips and most ballast manufacturers. That means the ballasts will connect with the most common wire harness. McCulloch failed this test and the rest of the kits failed by not even having a wire harness included. Again, only the Philips kit and my kit came with one for my testing.

Yes, the ballasts are completely waterproof.

Thanks all.

How easy to install?

cliffud
07-01-2007, 09:53 PM
Maximthegreat -

Lifetime warranty - yes. As long as you use the product as intended in an environment where you would normally mount electrical equipment. For example, while the ballast and bulb are waterproof, I wouldn't try to mount this entire hid kit (including relay) under a boat and expect it to work indefinitely since the relay can fail. Essentially, the warranty covers the functionability of the ballasts and bulbs and the wire harness as long as it is not abused or mounted under your car and subjected to salt corrosion. If a relay happens to fail, relays can be purchased at your local Radio Shack for approximately $12.

The manufacturer isn't a name brand manufacturer but rest assured, these kits are made to last and I've done some serious testing of many kits to compare. Also, unlike other distributors on here, these aren't drop shipped from some other location, I inventory and ship EVERY SINGLE ONE.

The installation into a Scion tC is very easy and I personally have done a couple of installs into them.

Thanks.

cliffud

Yup. I'm that confident in the product as long as the kit is used in the way it was intended.

From shopping around quite a bit I will say that this seems to be a good kit (Kingwood?) at a decent price (others on the net are also offering lifetime warranties in this price range) but with your customer service backing it is what makes your deal superior. I will definitely get mine from you when the time comes!
Are your kits now shipping with a full set of instructions as well?

cliffud
07-10-2007, 04:48 AM
Yep, all kits are shipped with basic instructions. honestly- the kit almost pieces itself together due to the simplicity. the comparable philips kit actually has 2 grounds and isn't waterproof/rubber injected.

Bump for Cliffud :) - Happy Birthday

Hey whats the difference between your HIDs and the ones for $140

cliffud
07-11-2007, 07:44 AM
JP - thanks for the birthday wish.

I haven't checked out the $140 ones but I've actually done quite a bit of testing on mine to ensure my customers are getting a DAMN GOOD PRODUCT.

Check out my write up review on my site:

http://www.mobilehid.com/philips-review.htm

If you want cheap $140 kits, I have about 10 that I can give away for dirt cheap. In fact, I'll offer them here for - $130 SHIPPED!

http://www.mobilehid.com/images/bosch1.jpg
http://www.mobilehid.com/images/bosch2.jpg

I have 10 in stock with boxes and over 40 ballasts without boxes that just need to be connected to bulbs and given a (+) & (-) signal to fire up.

If you want the cheap stuff, I can offer it too. I simply choose not to offer up products that don't hold up to my strict requirements. They all work but they just haven't all passed my high requirements.

Who's interested?

niran916
07-11-2007, 08:01 AM
Not meaning to thread jack but I have the $140 HID's. I have had them for about 4 months with zero issues. The quality is the same, just a difference in price.
Anyways free bump for your product since I decided to post here.

cliffud
07-11-2007, 03:09 PM
Thanks Niran for the free bump.

I doubt the quality is the same and I think there's a SLIGHT difference in the warranty offered. :)

uberspeed
07-11-2007, 05:00 PM
There are differences in quality and R&D as well. The kits that Clifford is selling are based off of Kingwood components apparently. They seem to have a very high reputation for being a manufacturer in China. I googled quite a bit of information on them.
The warranty that he offers is also very good, lifetime, though is that lifetime through you as long as you work there, mobilehid the store, or the manufacturer itself?
That is one point I haven't looked into from your offer and I guess now is a good time to hash it out for all to see.
Most HID enthusiast sites with exhaustive research will agree that in this day and age most of the HID kits have decent enough ballasts, igniters, etc but the difference is in the bulbs. Run time for the German bulbs are said to be in the 3000 hour range (before they start to dim) whereas the Chinese/Korean/Japanese bulbs is said to be in the 2000 hour range before they start to dim. That's why some of these kits offered by the Asian companies will sometimes say "Components desigend in Germany!". However, the bulbs are still Asian.

cliffud
07-11-2007, 09:27 PM
Uber - those are good points. I actually source my kits from an independent broker prior to them being branded by Kingwood so yes, I suppose you could group my kits into that brand if you must.

The warranty is lifetime as in - for the life of the product there is a warranty against defects. As long as you use the product as intended in an environment where you would normally mount electrical equipment. For example, while the ballast and bulb are waterproof, I wouldn't suggest mounting this entire kit (including relay) under a boat and expect it to work indefinitely since the relay can fail. I'll be honest, the product isn't going to last forever - but what will?

Essentially, the warranty covers the functionability of the ballasts and bulbs and the wire harness as long as it is not abused or mounted under your car and subjected to salt corrosion. If a relay happens to fail, relays can be purchased at your local Radio Shack for approximately $12.

Naturally it would be ridiculous for me to claim the product will last FOREVER but there are companies out there that claim their products will. One of them being Never Burn Out. www.neverburnout.com.

I agree that there are MANY kits out there that have "Made in Germany" printed on them but I guarantee that not all of them are. Believe me, I've done a lot of testing. :) I don't believe it's necessarily due to the bulb life though, I think they claim their ballasts are made in Germany since the world believes German electronics are the "Best". Ask your nearest BMW owner about German electronics and I'm sure he'll beg to differ though. :)

So usps finally got my kit to me...on Sunday, kind of weird. I just finished installing them and they are totally sick! I showed them to a few buddies of mine and they loved it. So I'm pretty sure you'll be hearing from me again. Overall I'm happy with the kit and it was money well spent.

Now I gotta say this, Cliffud has the best communication of any seller, online or not.

He messaged me with status updates (instead of the other way around)

He offered me a solution since mine had to be ordered, but I declined since I wanted that specific color.

I will do business in the future and anyone who is looking for an HID kit, I recommend cliffud.

It may cost more than some on here, but the quality of the kit as well as the inclusion of the relay harness (that goes to the battery and not through the factory harness) is well worth it!

Hey cliff, on page 1 you said they are warrantied for life in your first post, then towards the bottom you said that they are warrantied for a year. Can you clear that up for me please.

sorry man, basically - after hundreds of kits sold, the failure rate is so low i'm confident in offering a longer warranty. i'll admit, there are failures because nothing is fail proof but the rate of failure is VERY low.

Basically- I want to offer you guys and gals an awesome product. :)

Hey, I ordered the 6000k of the 9006 package of HID's. They are for my 2005 Scion tC. Did I order the right ones, Cliff? I sent you an E-mail that I think that I goofed. The temperature of 6000k I know is what I want, but the type of bulb I'm not sure. Please let me know! I sent you an E-mail in regards to it. My address is csuntico@yahoo.com Please let me know if it needs tobe changed!!

Can I show you a link of the projector beams i was going to get off ebay for it? I want to make them authentic projector beam HID's.

Like the ones you see on Lexus, BMW, and Acura! I wanna look like luxury!!

Here's the link.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=017&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=270146013853&rd=1,1

Will those 9006's work with those projector beams?? Please let me know if thats a true luxury look!

cliffud
07-21-2007, 02:21 AM
It's pretty tough to tell what kind of bulb it's going to take since they don't specify. More than likely it will be the same bulb. If not, just let me know.

As far as the true luxury look - yeah, they look pretty nice to me. :) I wish I had projectors on my car.

Hey cliffud, I've got an 08 tC with the factory fogs. I am interested in getting a 5K conversion kit for the low beams and the fogs. Would I use 4 ballasts and have 2 wire harnesses, or can it be simplified somehow? Basically, can you explain the wiring for that, since I plan on installing this myself.

I can answer that... Yes you would need to have 4 ballasts and 2 wiring harnesses... that is the only way to do it for a lowbeam / foglight setup.

Probably due to the projector lens and the 4300 does have a white/blue to it but very faint. My friends MK5 GTI has 4300k and its like that too, but when you compare it to my 5000k its totally different!

WAlterEgo

ur 5000k totally white? im considering 6000k for the blue hint but more towards the 5000k for the best light output. im planning to do what mrpsxplyr is doing w/ the low beams and fogs on the 08.

about the cutoff having that slight spectrum of light... often times the cars that have oem hid have projector housings and projector housings by the nature of their construction produce light with that small spectrum along the edges of the light output.

SleeperXB - great question.

My kits have the following:

* rubber injected ballasts making them waterproof.
* dedicated power wire harness with relay and fuse wired inline so your ballasts are not powered via your OEM plugs.
* great customer service.
* lifetime warranty.

To my knowledge, no other kits offer ballasts that are rubber injected and waterproof.

Thanks.

FYI:

There are some people who insist that it is not needed and I refuse to believe that simply because I've seen way too many botched HID installations where something failed due to not getting the proper level of power. In fact, for those people who insist a wire harness is not needed - why is this McCulloch HID distributor on VWVortex.com doing a write up of adding a wire harness?

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2632686

To save you from clicking - here's what he says:

I began selling some mcculloch hid kits and a few people including myself ran into a problem with the aftermarket kit. The lights would flicker on and off repeatedly as if it wasn’t receiving enough power to ignite the ballast. I couldn’t exactly pinpoint where the problem was. Whether it was the oem relay or the small gauge oem wires. I kept sending kits back to the manufacturer thinking it was a defective ballast until Doug (slammedvwgolf) suggested the fore mentioned problem. I researched it online and it proved true.

Adding an independent relay can either fix a problem or avoid problems in the future. It’s very necessary if your hid kit is aftermarket, may not be necessary for oem kits. In my opinion I rather feed the ballasts their own juice straight from the battery since these cars weren’t designed for high intensity discharged lighting.

More big props for Cliff and MobileHID.

I ordered my kit Monday morning, and had it by Wednesday afternoon.

Figuring out where I wanted to mount everything took longer then the actual hook-up. Installation took about an hour this morning, because I'm real picky about hiding everything, and it looking like a factory install. Everything works as it should. Can't wait for it to get dark to see how they look.

Thanks again..!!!

Dan.

cliffud, I'm a total noob when it comes to HID's. I have an 06.5 Xb and I would like to have the high beam option in 8000K, using stock headlights. Which set do I need? Thanks

cliffud
08-30-2007, 05:38 PM
Hi Fixdrummer -

Don't worry about being a noob man. You'll need the H4 8k kit. It will give you the HID low and a halogen high beam for instant on when you hit your brights.

Thanks.

Another happy customer. Very quick shipping and May I say an awesome product. But my wife took my air freshner and that was the only reason I ordered one. J/K. I did have to use some elecrtic tape to hold the plug for the existing headlight wire though, it was a little loose but no biggie!

Anyone mind taking video of what on-coming traffic would see w/ the HID low/halogen high?

It's an odd request but I'm hoping someone wouldn't mind humoring me....

I don't have a first gen xB to take pics Maria - sorry. :(

However, I can anticipate what it would look like...

HID - bright as heck but not so much in your face...
Halogen - in your face but no where near as bright.

It's almost comical because I've seen them in person. You can tell that you're getting flashed but the "flash" looks a bit yellowish.

i won a goldeneye hid kit and i wanted to know if the wiring harness would work for it and if i get one how will the wiring harness hook up to this kit and could you send instructions on how to install it thank you.

cliffud
09-03-2007, 05:59 AM
FARRxB -

Yes, the wire harness will work with your goldeneye kit. The wire harness is pretty easy to hook up. You basically have 5 connections.

1 power
1 ground
2 ballast plugs
1 remote turn on plug

Do your bulbs have a halogen high beam bulb on your bulbs or just HID lows?

Thanks.

Clifford

cliffud

Easy man, does it look like this?

http://mobilehid.com/images/h4bulb.jpg

If you just have the HID bulb, then you don't have high beams.

FARRxB
09-03-2007, 05:48 PM
they look like the ones in the picture so what do i need

cliffud
09-03-2007, 06:41 PM
You just need the H4 wire harness. The H4 wire harness will come ready for you to plug and play it into your vehicle and I will include the plug for you to power your high beams as well.

For reference, check out my write up below. I'll prep the harness before sending it out but you should check out the write up to see how it will work.

Thanks.

Maria - if you just want to see what the light differences are I can do a video and show off an h4 bulb when it's connected to my test bench but I don't have any H4 housings to show you the real world application output.

I got my kit today and put them in, they look great!! I got the 8k kit and the install only took about 25 minutes. The light output is amazing compared to stock IMO. I highly recommend Cliff if your thinking about getting a set of hids. Shipping only took 3 days and that includes the holiday! I will try and get some pics up t/m. Thanks again Cliff.

hey, could you please give me some info on your 9006 wiring harness. specifically the GA of wiring used and brand of fuse.
thank you.

cliffud
09-05-2007, 04:11 PM
Great question.

The main power wire from the battery is a 14 gauge wire rated at max of 32 amps. The fuse wired inline though is a 20 amp fuse so the max capacity of the power wire should never be reached. I'm not sure what brand the fuse is but I can't imagine much variance between one brand or another.

Also, the wires to the ballasts is 18 gauge and each ballast gets a dedicated ground.

Thanks.

Clifford
