Toyota decided to use some really thin metal for the rear hatch lid...

Nobody notified me of this when I bought the car, so I never knew you shouldn't touch the hatch lid when you are closing the hatch.

About a week after I bought the car, I gave it a coat of wax and when I pulled out of the garage in the sunlight I noticed an indentation in the hatch. Incredibly ____ed I wondered how could it have been possible there was a ding on the car only after a week and ontop of the hatch lid. You won't really notice it, unless you look for it and at an angle that light can reflect off of it. Since it was hard to notice, I thought it was already there when I bought the car so I went back to the dealership... they simply told me that it's typical for auto manufactures to use thin sheet metal so I probably caused it myself closing the hatch, so I am ____ out of luck.

It sucks, because I never put that much pressure on that area. When I first bought the car I would use the 2 handles to pull the lid down low enough to were you have to touch the lid and then push it down by the edge letting the weigh of the lid close itself. But I still ended up with a ding there

$40 later... a Paintless Ding repair guy made it disappear and look good as new within 10 minutes.

I pull a handle then use one finger under the license plate to close it the rest of the way.

I just pull on the inside handles then get out of the way and the thing slams shut.

Most aftermarket wings are designed only for show, and should not produce much downforce. Its more than enough reason not to junk up your car with useless fiberglass.

If you take the car apart, and go in between all the welds in the open spots, the entire car is like that, it sounds hollow when you tap on a panel from the inside. just gotta be more careful.
