View Full Version : Leaning to the left
doorknob24 12-17-2006, 12:37 PM I have an 06 xB with stock everything(Unfortunately), but it has a noticable lean to the left. I checked with a ruler and the left side rides an inch lower than the right. Any clue what this could be? Do I need to lose weight?
xA_Factor 12-17-2006, 01:05 PM If you are the only one who is regularly in the car, then I guess you could have some settling of the leftside springs.
metal112524 12-17-2006, 01:15 PM Actually ive noticed this too, imight have to go bust out the old yard stick as im on stock suspension and a ruler wont do. BAHH
(i want coilovers)
wanachat15 12-17-2006, 07:11 PM i've notice it too when i was running stock and with s-tech springs. it leaned like about half to one inch. but i don't have that problem anymore because i'm running coilovers which i can adjust the driver side a little higher. but they have to be coilovers with lower adjuster mounts so it won't change your shock travel.
bB2NER 12-20-2006, 06:26 AM Try swapping out the springs from side to side. It might correct or make it less noticable.
wanachat15 12-20-2006, 09:34 AM yea or you can do dat too. cheaper.
me so :loser:

hotbox05 12-20-2006, 10:23 AM wow. inch difference? wow.
WOW
i'd take it in(to a dealer for warranty work on SOMETHING). an inch is not right.
1/4 - 3/4 happens . 1/4-1/2 is very common. but a full inch? wow. just wow
bB2NER 12-20-2006, 10:32 AM But is it worth the risk of a stealership visit? I'd pay someone to just swap out the springs before I'd risk that. Unless you really trust your dealer. Could be just unlevel ground. Try remeasuring it facing the opposit direction and see if it's the same.
hotbox05 12-20-2006, 10:42 AM if his car is stock . i'd def try it. worst case is they try and make you pay for a diagnostic.
what i'd do is go to the service writer and tell it exactly like it is. 1 inch difference in ride height side to side. and take him out and show him. that way you know he's not gonna charge you to look at it . if it doesn;t look right to him.
bB2NER 12-20-2006, 10:47 AM Sounds like a good plan. All they can say is no and then you go to different dealer.
saveacivic 12-20-2006, 07:02 PM this is very common with all cars since most people do drive many miles with the driver solely in the car. mine does it too. the majority of people dont even notice it when the car is stock height because the fender isnt so close to the tire (not to mention they hate the height of the car and are just waiting to lower it). after the car is lowered, it is easier to tell because the sits lower and naturally, when you lower the car, you are going to be checking it out. very common. some people put a spring clamp on the passengers side to more than even it out, drive for a month or so and take the clamp off. it sucks and is ghetto to do it, but driving lopsided is no less ghetto. have fun!
wanachat15 12-20-2006, 08:54 PM yea the toyota service center. they're such biotches. i just went to get my clutch checked and still under warrantee. the charged me 117 bucks just for a diagnostic. and asked if i wanted to rotate my wheels for 150 because it was time to. my tots was are you nuts  so i just ended up getting the diagnostic which didn't go squat. still had the sticky clutch problem.
bB2NER 12-20-2006, 09:03 PM yea the toyota service center. they're such biotches. i just went to get my clutch checked and still under warrantee. the charged me 117 bucks just for a diagnostic. and asked if i wanted to rotate my wheels for 150 because it was time to. my tots was are you nuts  so i just ended up getting the diagnostic which didn't go squat. still had the sticky clutch problem.Things like this is why they have that Scion customer hotline number. Complain and let Scion straighten it out. That is just wrong. I wouldn't have paid anything cause the didn't find nor fix the problem. Even if they fix it you shouldn't get charged for warranty work!
hotbox05 12-20-2006, 09:12 PM yea the toyota service center. they're such biotches. i just went to get my clutch checked and still under warrantee. the charged me 117 bucks just for a diagnostic. and asked if i wanted to rotate my wheels for 150 because it was time to. my tots was are you nuts  so i just ended up getting the diagnostic which didn't go squat. still had the sticky clutch problem.yeah tehy won't replace a clutch for you unless you have less than 5k or so.
wanachat15 12-20-2006, 09:25 PM yea this was when i was under 5k my clutch was so sticky that some times it wouldn't return. i had to use my foot to pull it baq.
hotbox05 12-20-2006, 09:51 PM yeah then somethign was wrong and it should be warranteed
call toyota/scion cust service complain about the problem , and your experience at said dealer. then go to a good dealer.
sounds like the pedal just needed to be adjusted or there is a faulty pressure plate.

sounds like the pedal just needed to be adjusted or there is a faulty pressure plate.Sounds like a very good diagnosis hotbox. Get it looked at before the clutch gets completly toasted. pun intended.
wanachat15 12-21-2006, 01:34 AM i did let them check, but freaken thing didn't do it when they was checking it. hated when that happen and peeps think you just overly concerned. i brought it home the next day. next morning i started it up and the problem started again. i did notice that it happened for the first 10 minutes than it stops. after about 10k it stop doing it. but pretty much my clutch is burnt from too much racing and down shifting. can you say 80mph down to third :lalala:

doorknob24 12-21-2006, 03:44 AM the cars at the dealer right now. (Has been for 2 days) and they claim it'll be finished Thursday. They didn't say what they would try, and I've called and they haven't even looked at it yet. We'll know tomorrow. Hopefully.
bB2NER 12-21-2006, 04:26 AM That's ridiculous that it sits there for 2 days and they did nothing. Did you make an appointment to have it fixed or just drop it off?
wanachat15 12-21-2006, 09:56 AM seriously. just because it's under warrantee. they think it's not that important cuzz we not paying them money. unless you pay them they ain't gonna do squat.

I'm 230 lbs and have about 1/2" lower on driver side when I'm not in the car. So it's probably at least twice that when I'm in the car. Would you have a specific brand or other information on a spring clamp you've mentioned. Thanks Much!
hotbox05 12-21-2006, 11:25 AM seriously. just because it's under warrantee. they think it's not that important cuzz we not paying them money. unless you pay them they ain't gonna do squat.wrong attitude to have. allthough true in some respects you need to find a good dealership and start a relationship with them.
in all honestly. just about no dealership is out to rape you but most aren't going to go out of their way to give away warranty labor.
anytime a car is under warranty and you're coming in with a legitamite concern tehy SHOULD not charge you a diagnostic fee. they should look at it for free. if it's beyond a quick ecu plug in and or visual/physical exam they will give you an estimate that you must agree to before they do it.
if they do it and it's all good and you're still under warranty no charge , if they do it and theres a problem covered by warranty no charge , if theres a problem which is not covered by your warranty , or it looks to be caused by abuse or owners fault/modification they will charge you for the diagnostic/inspection as well as any repairs you want them to do.
doorknob24 12-21-2006, 11:52 AM The dealer was running behind schedule cause of the holidays. The dealer is one of those high volume ones. Next time I'm just gonna take it to the middle of nowhere dealer that's never busy. Now it's the waiting game. :tap:
HondAudio 01-04-2007, 04:45 AM Could I flatten out the right side by driving around all the time with some plate weights on the passenger side? Maybe a couple 45 pounders? I tried to compress the right side by making quicker left turns :lalala:
but it still leans because I'm usually the only one driving. My old car had this but I expected it on a car that old
bB2NER 01-04-2007, 05:27 AM I still say swapping springs from side to side should either make it lean the other way or make it level. Almost sounds like they put xA springs on the left and xB springs on the right. LOL
micaxB 07-26-2007, 07:32 PM i have an 06 xb and mines does this also but sits evenly. one side is NOT lower than the other.
i'm currently on s-techs. i've noticed that when i set my steering wheel straight, my rims stick out more one the right that left.
does this mean i need an alignment?
it looks like one side's offset is lower than the other. when actually, they are both the same offsets. (+25 front)
