Default Woo Hoo I'm Rich!!!

I was in a crash this summer which nearly ripped of my thumb. When I say nearly I mean it was hanging out by a thread, bone sticking out and all.
Well with the money for the car that was totaled I put a down payment for my tC. Now 6 months later they finally gave me a quote for my pain and suffering….

And the grand amount is 21,500!!! In a few weeks I’m going to the bank, writing the biggest check I have ever written for 10,000 and paying off my car. Then 9,000 is going into an annuity where I get three lump sums when I turn 25, 30, 35. Then 2,000 to the parents and lastly 1,200 (roughly) is mine own money!!!
I love money

Did you deduct the lawyers percentage from that grand total amount?

I never hired a lawyer.

I was originally going to get a turbo but since I'm only going to have 1,200 to work with right now I might just wait untill I'm 25 when I get my first lump sum.

and yes there'll be pain but I hope that my annuity will help alleviate the cost of meds when I'm older (atleast for awhile).

I know I really wont one...but wait just sat. I got a ticket for going 85 in a 55 (but it just so happens that it was a freeway so someone tell me why the speed limit is that slow)
I might speed more willingly if I get one, so decisions decisions.

Sorry to hear of your ticket, that sounds so typical of GA highways. I mean, honestly, 55? Last time I was there you need to be going at least 75 or risk getting run over. They only make the speed limit like that so they can write tickets whenever they want.

Glad to hear of your money, and its also nice to see someone putting it away in an investment rather than just blowing it all!

Hope it all works out for ya man.

haha thanks man, and what was funny I was going 75 the whole time except right then because someone was pacing me (one thing that gets my blood going) on my right side. If anyone knows anything about Cobb county you would know this is thier typical christmas rewards to motorists.

Yeah I'm putting 9,000 into the annuity and out of that altogether the total gained (untaxable) interest 13,500 when I am 35 not much of a gain but better then letting my dumb **** have it all now.

I knew someone might call me out on that...

I have a loan for my car for 10,000 but I've made about 1,200 in payments. so when I gave myself 10,000 to pay it off I was going to pocket the 1,200 so I hope that clarifies things.

Hey, you might not want to get an annuity. Most of them are not worth it given how poor an interest rate they give you.

Just a heads up on that...

(and if my thumb was less than 100%, I'd dang sure be pushing for more money. Think about it, you won't be able to play golf, or baseball with your kids, etc. It's a big deal to lose the opposable thumb!)

PS: $20k doesn't make you rich either LOL. It does feel good though... (my check to the IRS last april was more than what you owe on your car... )

Seriously, don't be stupid, get a lawyer!

well what's the best investment? I really have no idea. I would suggest an ING savings account, but obviously you'll have to pay taxes up the butt on all the interest you'd make
