Default Xmas BBQ meet - 12/28 - Uncle Frank's BBQ - Mtn View 6:30 PM

Hi folks,

If any of you are still around the Bay area over the Xmas holiday, I'd like to throw an informal little meet. As always, everyone is welcome. Hopefully, it'll be more people than just me and Trung (come on Trung, you know you're coming. You don't want to hang out with your family all Xmas do you?

I want you guys to know I found a place with really good BBQ. The place is called 'Uncle Frank's BBQ" and it's in Mountain View.

Uncle Frank's BBQ
2135 Old Middlefield Way
Mountain View CA 94043

The place shares a building with Francesca's Bar. It's a pretty small dark place but the beef brisket can be cut with a fork and it's smoked for 30 hours. The pork ribs are awesome too. It's a tiny building. Just walk through the bar to the back for the BBQ joint. They don't have fries though Gabe. Sorry

Ed

Mmmm, Brisket.

Put me down as a definite maybe.

And for the record, I think this would be peninsula meet, or does that still count as South Bay?

No idea, never been to Famous Dave's in Gilroy. Although it's a lot closer than gilroy.

We had Famous Dave's the first time the other day....It was pretty damn good! It is hard to do BBQ for a restaurant due to the time it takes to get it "just right", but they figured it out down in Gilroy.

I am close to this meet and may make it out! I am always looking for good BBQ and wouldn't mind finding something closer to the house than Gilroy (still worth the drive!).

We'll try to make it out!

now i know some people will not believe me when i say this, but since i have never seen it happen i had to comment on it...ed and trung both took home doggy bags of food. yes that's right ed and trung could not finish what they ordered at a restaraunt. we did get an extra order of meat by mistake....however they still would have had left overs.

great meet ed...it was fun seeing the few people that were there, especially since i'm not sure we will be to a meet again for a few months depending on when this baby decides to come.

Kat & David, good luck with Nacho the Linebacker!

Yes, I can confirm Kat's statement that *both* Ed and Trung had food to take home. I didn't think that would ever happen with Ed. Great meet (meat) place! Parking lot is a bit dark, but it is big and empty. Brisket was a bit on the lean side, but the sauce was tasty. Ribs were good, but not Famous Dave's good. Coleslaw was really good (had pineapple chunks) as was the yam. Hush puppies were tasty.

Uncle Frank and crew did it up right, that's what happened.

Those hush puppies were great! The closest to my mom's that I've ever had. The baked beans were top notch too. The sauce was great too, but for some reason, I've got that Johnny Cash song "Ring of Fire" on my mind today...

Good to see everyone and glad that Nacho could attend.
