I also have a Hot Lava and was considering these style, it would be tight with the orange color, however I discovered these are not street legal, one would get stopped quicker then a $10.00 hooker in Sygon .......
I am still searching for something different that is legal ..

IIRC, the only thing not legal about them is that there is NO RED.
Just get the clear one, then cover part of it red first, then cover the whole thing with a Smoked look. That should work.
Dave.

In CA, only a red cover is illegal as well. . . ever seen the RX330? All clear tails, totally legal. . . why? Red reflector. You need a red reflector, in the housing or on the bumper at a specific minimum legal height. A small rectangular reflector might work and look good. . .

no it didnt look like those. it was as if they were painted jet black almost. nothing fancy to them, just stock lenses w/ 1% tint if you want to say.
Check out www.bluebatmobile.com for smoked taillight overlays.
those are nice, but apparently the ones im thinking of are darker.
i have mine smoked allredy, but apparently the weather elements are taking its toll on them, and they seem to be fading

If you read the Ebay description, it says it comes with red reflectors if you want to make them street legal. However what the reflectors look like and how they are applied would be helpful.

like this? different car, but hey, it's what he's looking for.
there's a guy with an xB with blacked out lights as well, search for a thread on smoked tails. His SL name is Alex B I believe.

I had these done by Gary Nish (Nish Designs), they're painted with automotive paint, clear coated, sanded and polished.

Even with red reflectors, they would probably still be illegal because they don't have DOT approval. They would theoretically conform to the laws, but if the DOT doesn't inspect and approve them, they're most likely not legal.

basically... they don't come on the car stock they're not legal.
blacked out lights will get you in trouble, i haven't been pulled over yet, but i know one day i'll get a dick cop and it'll happen. meh, they look good though.
