The Toyota Blade has been revealed and it looks to be the new xD. The body lines on the Blade are very similar to those of its direct competitors, the Versa and Fit, while also keeping some of the basic design elements of the current xA. What the Blade lacks is the Yaris inspired design cues that the Auris (which is what the Blade is based off of) emulates so profoundly. Though Autoblog.com displays the vehicle with the 2.4L in use, I doubt we will see it.

The front looks very Nissan-ish, I like it. It would look way better without that side molding though.

Of all the vehicles I see on this page, the Blade has got to be the closest to what we saw in Miami, but it is not the same vehicle, just the same basic shape.

first-gen xB = Toyota bB

The tC was the first Scion developed specifically for Scion. The new xB is as well, but I am holding out that the new xD could still be a rebadged Toyota... And there's nothing wrong with them doing that, so long as it is not available in North America.

I didnt say it is the Ractis and again I wasnt there but someone said that the xD has the room our orignal xb had and ive seen the dimensions for the Blade/Auris and its not even close, the Ractis on the other hand is pretty close in room so I thought maybe its related to the xD not a carbon copy of it. Picture this with out the hideous fabric pattern and with a scion style interior.

The only part of that I like is the steering wheel. All else is hideous.

I highly highly doubt that they would consider it an SUV because not only is it built off a 100% car platform but will also be marketed as a car, which is key. Besides that, the Matrix/Vibe should still be larger than the new xB and it is still classified as a car. Remember the whole thought process of Scion is keepin it affordable to the Gen Y crowd, so I really don't think that te Mother Ship would produce something as a Scion.

^ agreed.... the xD is much nicer looking, and the interior console is dynamically different... the hood design is unlike any of those, with a big scion logo pretty much molded into the shape of the hood...

I love the conspiracy theories about what we say "No" to, as we pretty much say no to everything cause it doesn't look much like anything else we've seen so far... :)

I believe everyone is right miami people and the people suggesting Blade/Aurus?? obviously scion is gonna "scionize it" change it to make it
1. more affordable since currently has a base price of 19K if converted from yen
2. Americanize it to be accepted

Personally I don't like the blade it look like the front was stolen from the Yaris/Camry the door panel region fro the Matrix/Ist and the rear end of a mix between a Lexus RX 400/ Mazda 3 hatch/ Subaru tribeca.

Of course I am probably bias since I own a xA/Ist

I think the Blade looks like a Nissan... the headlights remind me of an Altima or Maxima.

I still think the xD is based on the Auris platform but with its own unique body design. I'm hoping they use the new 1.8-liter I-4 with the CVT-i automatic retuned for American driving styles, just like what Nissan did with the JATCO CVT to reduce the "slipping clutch" feel of older CVT's.

NO IT IS NOT ... its crazy how all u guys that never saw the xD persumes they know what it looks like .. you all don't ... its a new car that has and will never be released besides the US so no one has the same design as the xD...you all should just wait until febuarry when they do the measurement thing with SEMA because a pic will probubly come from that... you all are making eachother be happy to what it could be and bashing Scion (under another topic an SL member was) and you all don't know what it looks like.... its kinda driven me nuts wishing i didn't know what the car looks like because i hate seeing people be so sure of something .... well everyones "picture" ideas..... that have been so wrong...

The new xA (xD, or whatever the hell) may have some similarities to all of these cars, but this car is going to be a US only car like the matrix...but it's not anymore like the matrix (R.I.P.) than the xA. It's also a little different than what peeps got a peek at in Miami (remember 5axis). Just remember the BBx compared to the xB when you think of the Miami cars. Yeah, the differences may be slight, but still different.. wait till later and be unimpressed when you see the real thing.

Yes, the XD is a LOT cooler than what's here. But neither of the new cars are as cool as the original XB. I left Miami feeling a whole lot better about the fact that I don't need to trade in my XB because it will always be the best Scion. -- Take that XD drool boys!

a car that small with an engine the size of a tC's with all weel drive would be quite the lil track monster.

Me being a tC driver am afraid to say that car would sadly sadly put me in my place.

I never heard of the xD until today. I went to a focus group as a Matrix owner. I saw a new Maxrix, a new xB and the xD. I got to sit in all three plus a few other cars from different companies. There was the new VW Rabbit a Dodge Caliber R/T and a Mazda 3. All were 5 door hatchbacks. I decided to show my wife pix of it, but there are none but a few sketches that were close. The Blade is not what it resembled. It was more like an xA but more "squarier" but not boxy like the xB. The new xB is nice. I may decide to get that when it comes out as it's bigger then the xD. Too bad they basicly frisked me and pat me down to make sure I had no cameras or cell phones to take pictures. There was a guy on the roof trying to take pictures but they found him and covered the xB and Matrixs rather quickly. I'm looking forward to purchacing a scion in 2008 if they look the same as I saw today.

FWIW - Scion is just a name for the US. The xA and xB are Toyota's in the rest of the world, just a different Toyota model.

This Blade is probably what the new Matrix will look like?

^^^ That's true, it (as well as the Auris) could be the next Matrix. Doubt it though, I would imagine that the Matrix/Vibe replacement would be a bit larger.
