Default Started my car this morning, left back wheel doesnt move?

I washed my car thursday and pulled it into the garage. I haven't driven it since then and I went and got in it this morning to take it out. I put the car in reverse and the body just move back but it was moving towards the back left wheel. I tried putting it in drive and it moved back down back would not move the slightest bit until it started to drag the back left wheel slightly. I put it in neutral and got out to push it and the back left wheel would still not give. I have never once experience this and this came off as very weird. I looked down to see if anything was stuck under the wheel and there was nothing. I cant get the car in until after Christmas and I am pretty interested to see how they are going to tow it out of the garage. Has anyone else experienced this or had a problem with this? Also this is a 2006 model and I got it about a year ago exactly and have never had a problem. It has 18,000 on it and that's it.

Sounds like the parking break is stuck,They will either put oil on the ground or put a dolly under the back and pull it on the flat bed.
I would jack it up to make sure it is not just the break sticking.
Have you tried to back up to see it it will release?

I put slight gas on it and went about 2 feet and all it did was create a burn out strip and the wheel would still not budge. I kept putting on and off the parking brake to see if it was that and nothing would release. Is this a common problem or what causes this?

Did you use your parking brake when you last drove it? If so, I would suspect that its stuck. You may try to jack up the rear, take off the tire, take off the brake drum and look at your brake pads.

I am leaving town here in like 30 minutes. I will probably have to have them come and tow it to the dealer ship and let them look at it. Is that a defect if the brake sticks like that or does that happen?

Definately not normal for a new car. If you were driving an 80 something Chevy Truck, I wouldn't be suprised.

This same thing happend to me last year with my new xA. Mine froze do ice accumulating under there.

Basically I just rocked the car back and for between First and Reverse for a few minutes and it popped free.

I haven't had any problems since but now that you are having it I would suggest having a dealer look at it and if you get it free try not to use the parking brake for a little bit.

I don't know where you are located or if your garage is heated, but it could definitely be an ice-in-the-brake-drum thing. It just happened to a co-worker of mine.

Yeah, I recall my brother getting water in his parking brake cable and it freezing it up while he was in a restaurant. I came out and just started pulling on the cable to brake it free. If you have a heat gun or a blow dryer, I'd try to heat up the brake drum and parking brake cable.

bah relase the parking brake and "wiggle the car back and forward. a new car like that shouldnt have parking brake problems.

anyway you should use your parking brake every day. auto or not.

no problems with my brakes. i lived in metro NYC and used my parking brake all the time. some guy thad the nerve to tell me thet my parking brake would freeze if i used it. i was about to argue with him but it was 11 'o clock at night

Seems like a stuck parking brake or cable to me, probably frozen, with a (very) outside chance of a seized wheelbearing...

Very common in wintertime. I rarely apply the parking brake, unless I'm parked on a hill, and haven't had any problems from that in over 40 years of driving...

Putting it in park or first gear works fine for me...

My parking brake doesn't seem to hold the car unless I really muscle it? Maybe I'm not setting it hard enough cuz it's under the armrest. I've always used the parking brake in my vehicles, regardless of weather. Never had a problem.

At least the tow and everything will be covered under warranty?

if the brake is frozen due to ice, warranty will not pay for the tow or the repair. i drive a flatbed wrecker here in texas and deal with these things all the time. try the hair dryer trick on the brakes and cable.

it sounds to me though like one of the cables is stuck, if thats the case they will probably fix it under warranty, and actually they should fix it either way under warranty on such a new car

I am in Huntsville and recently it has been in the low 60s so there should be no freezing. It was only this morning when It was actually in the 30s and thats when I tried moving it. The only thing I can come up with is that the parking brake might be stuck because I don't know what else it could possibly be. I thank you for the suggestions and I will let you know what happens when I get back to town Tuesday.

thanks for all the help guys, I tried it all and it still wouldn't move so I had to have it towed to the dealer ship.
