i was makeing a custom heat wrap for my intake from foam and metel ducting wrap and had a razor knife sittin on the upper rad support... the knife fell and cut a fin on it and just started to hiss out all the pressure in the system so now i have to find some place to weld it... does ne one know if it is possible.... b/c i really don't wanna put out the close to 700 for a new 1... i know how to recharge the sytem so all i need is for some way to fix that lil slice that i put in it

it's not possible.. the high pressure system of the a/c is too strong for a weld.

only way i know is to unfortunately spend the $700-800 to replace it.

btw... what kind of razor knife was this?? seriously.... it must've been some massive thing to slice a hole in the condenser.

it was just a regular metal handle razor knife.. it cut a tiny slice in 1 of the fins/cores.. i was talkin to a rad shop and it might be possible to silver soder the fin... but its only a maybe it might or might not wrk but it's worth a try.... i was so ____ed at my self when it happend

i tapped the top my old corolla's condensor with a drill bit and put a hole in it
hissed like crazy and scared the hell out of me,

i could have had it repaired, maybe. but instead i just sold the car as is, of course i told the buyer all about it

you cant silver solder aluminum, there is a special solder for that, and its really hard to get it to work, but your best bet is to get a new or used one, and the pressure is not that high trung if you compare it to an everyday house ac, lol i do ac for a living and its funny how this came up
