Default Check out my Christmas Present!!

So my girldfriend got me the sirius s50....... No complaints so far and the install was cake walk.

Like most of you guys here I can't stand wires showing so what I did was drilled a hole in the storage thing above the glove box and ran the wires throught that......

Also I still wanted to keep it plugged in so I bought a cig lighter from walmart and tap it into the existing cig lighter and so it just plugs in behind the oven.... So its all pretty clean.

Now I'll I need is to buy the fm modular so I can plug the S50 right into the stereo rather then running my auxillary cord....

What do you guys think?

FM modulator huh? umm that would work but it's not the best reception in the world. I am a perfectionist myself and can tell you that if wires get on your nerves... that static sound will be bad too. Especially if you live in a big city w/ alot of radio traffic.

Are there any other options besides the modulator?

edit* * that was really cool of your girl to get that for you man, she got a sister? * *

Lol no sister....sorry man....

but the FM transmitter that is built in is horrible..... I tried it for about 2 minutes and said no way.....

Is there other options I should be looking into? Plugging into the aux port feeds some nasty hum noise and I can't deal with that much longer.

I thought this fm thing would be better but I dont know its 20 bucks so might as well try....

Thanks for the feed back everyone.....

The best modulator I've found is the one that comes w/ the iPod. It is somewhere under $100.00 and can get a handle on any channel you want. Not sure if it works w/ the Sirius.

The $20.00 modulators are going to be just as bad or worse than what you already have. Even worse would be the modulators that use batteries because the signal is going to deteriorate as the battery starts to go down ( which is about 30 minutes ).

This happens to be a subject that I am well versed in because I work in Iraq and we use those modulators to listen to our iPods,CD-players,MP3's, etc on the truck stereo.

I don't have any constructive input for a better solution but if you can hide some more wires, that would be the best way to go. A direct signal w/ wires will beat that transmitter every time.

Ok so she doesn't have a sister.... mb a cousin? I really want some DC headers for my birthday

I'll buy her something from Victoria's Secret

Humm noise? I know that a bad ground will create an "engine" hum and you can actually hear your acceleration and gear changes through your speakers.

That's usually on a new-sound system installation. I've never heard about it on a modulator or an auxiliary connection... Well actually modulators humm and blip, fade, etc.

To fix a hum usually means you need to upgrade your grounding connection. If it's just humming when you use the Aux connection though? That makes me think something is wrong w/ either the adapter or the connections to Aux.

Might want to make sure all of your connections are in good. If that doesn't work then ask a professional. Probably won't cost anything to just ask.
