View Full Version : Projector/Tailight Combo question
Daurigon 12-29-2006, 04:55 PM Hey whats up guys? I am buying my body kit soon and I wanted to go ahead and upgrade to new projectors and tailights. I was thinking about going either of these ways:
Anzo Projectors w/ black housing and Silverstar
Anzo Tailights (either JDM black or Red/Black)
or
Jlevi Projectors w/ black housing and HID upgrade
Anzo tailights or Ebay tailights
Let me know what you guys think and also, I heard that Anzo can't take HID but just to ask, what would happened if I were to buy them and put them on? Also, which is higher quality projectors? Also, anyone heard about The Mod City's projectors that he sells or are they similiar to Jlevi and how is the quality on all of them? Thanks again.
JfBriZ03 12-29-2006, 05:28 PM Anzos from what I hear are a better quality projector out of the two you listed. The cutoff on both are horrible though. If you want a goo dpair of halos, go with the Anzos. Also, I dont believe that anyone has yet to put HIDs in the Anzo projectors because there has been warnigns issued by the company. However I personally think it woudl work fine.
I think you shoudl do both the Anzo taillights and headlights. I think they personally look the best!

Daurigon 12-29-2006, 07:09 PM thanks! anyone ever put HID's on the Anzo headlights? If i do put them on, i dont want to ruin the projector because of the heat. i dont know though, can someone shed some light on this?
Daurigon 12-29-2006, 07:48 PM Also, how are The Mod City's projectors, I want to know what my options are because I want high quality projectors
The Anzo headlights will work with HIDs (despite the warnings). I know a member on here that has the black housings with a Techone H7 conversion and he says they work perfectly.
stefPap1120 12-29-2006, 08:07 PM The Anzo's will work with HID's, the reason that Anzo has released the warning about doing so is that the optics on their headlights are designed around halogen bulbs, not HID's. Simply put, although the light you will get by switching to HID's will be whiter (or purple...blue....yellow....depending on temp), you will not actually notice nearly the amount of difference in light on the road that you would from going from stock headlights to a retro (or god knows how long...but eventually the Umnitza's) projector designed for HID's.

well the big advantage to HIDs is that they use less power and also arent as hot as the normal halogen bulbs.
Yanki01 12-29-2006, 11:47 PM if the projectors are made for halogens (which most are) then you run the risk of runing the projector bowl from the gas discharged bulbs. It actually is kinda weird but tru at the same time. Yes HIDs do run cooler but the main thing that gets the heat is the ballast since the ballast is whats drawing in the power and shooting 35W to the bulb.
I would not go with HID's in aftermarket projectors which are made for halogens. I would go with the silverstars like you were and still get some decent light out put and better than stock!!!
If you got the money, you should get the Feint Lighting LED tails.

yup
Daurigon 12-30-2006, 04:24 PM what are feint lighting LED tails? also, anyone can give comment on The Mod City's projectors? Are they the same as Jlevi's projectors? Let me know.
davedavetC 12-30-2006, 09:27 PM they are modded OEM lights, with a blck smoked housing, and LED breaklights, blinkers, and reverse. they are hot! but i cant afford them LOL, so i have redded out TYCs which get the job done nicely :D
