I just had an accident .. PLEASE give me some advises!(pics)
SIGH, so I just went out for the "Friday night thing" about an hour ago and the accident happened. I am so depressed now. The car is drivable, but the rear and front bumper, maybe the hood, and the left headlight. On the way home, I noticed like I got a TRD exhaust or something because that noise wasnt there in front of the engine before the accident. Something broke, leaked ? Also the left mirror turn signal and rear blink faster ? Any suggestion or advises ?
Who do you think at fault in this situation ? The Jeep in front of me just suddenly slammed on his brake becasue of some dudes made a turn, so I gotta hit mine hard too right ? And there was a Chevy Cavalier behind, he couldnt stop and rear ended me at about 15-20mph I think. His airbags were deployed, but still drivable. And I hit that Jeep on the rear cos of the collision. I didnt see much damage on the Jeep. When I asked the police, he said the Chevy was at fault. That relieved me.
What should I do now ? It's weekend and almost New Year. I bet I wont have my car repaired by then .. sigh .. I'll have sum pics up tmr ..

that sucks man;/ the same thing almost happen to me like a couple of days ago, but I saw that the left lane was empty and as I was braking I just changed lanes and got away
It was a close one, though
Sorry about your luck...your lights are blinking faster because a bulb is out or the wiring got messed up in the accident. As for the loud sounds, you probably either punctured the muffler, bent the pipe funny, or broke the exhaust manifold (header) causing it to make a loud, open pipe noise. As for getting it fixed...choose wisely. make sure they use genuine Scion parts to fix it, and make sure they are reputable. I used to run a detail shop back east and I have seen many of poor paint jobs...make the do it right! Good luck!
uhm, I'm thinking about one of the Honda body shop. They are reputable in the area, but I have to drive like 13 miles. If a Scion/Toyota is not a body shop, they cant perform the job ? I'm still looking for one now.
As for the noise, it is dark and I dont know what caused it. And your right, the left turn signal is not working. Sigh ..

That was exactly what happened to me with my 1st tC. The car who hit me behind paid all the expense both my car and the car in front of me. Here are some pictures:

That was sunday and I have to bring my car home and drive it with my rear bumper hanging.

yeah, a bulb replacement will fix that blinker problem...as for the Honda body shop, I don't see why they cannot fix it. I would ask to see some of the cars they have done. What you don't want is a paintjob that is orange-peeled, meaning it literally has the appearance and texture of an orange in the light. Also, ensure they have a computer that accuately measures out the paint mix for them, otherwise it may not match. Toyota/Scion is the obvious first place to look, mainly because they might be able to get parts faster and might offer some sort of warranty with the work. DO your homework before you commit.
hopefully you got the cavalier driver ins info because he will be considered at fault. The jeeps company can try and fault you for hitting the jeep but will more than likely go agfter the cavalier too since it started the series of collissions. Good luck to you and let us know how it pans out!
I'm confusing about rental car tho. That cavalier will pay for all my repair and rental car right ? I also have 500 on collision and comprehensive with State Farm, are they gonna pay for the damage too ? If so, would I expect some green from this accident ?
hey pinoy_tC, so did ur car fixed and all paid by the car behind you or ... ? How did the insurance companies handle your case ? How much u got ur coverage ?
Thanks for the info.

Looks like your accident happened on Grand Ave. I'm originally from Lake County area so I know that's common spot for accidents. In fact; I almost rear ended someone in my old xA in the same location. Because the moron in front of me slammed on her brakes late while she was speeding.
that 500 you say is your deductible. thats the money you pay for the repairs. so if the repairs are 1500, you pay 500, ins pays 1000. the chevy is at fault so their ins should cover your repairs. and when you go to a body shop, try not to do the megashops cuz they worry about quantity not quality.
advises...
anyway... make sure you get a hold of their insurance company.... and make sure everything is right. if you have a good insurance agent get a hold of him... i know mine would take care of everything if i just give him my info.

And this is why you should not tailgate. The Cavalier is at fault everytime!
As Dane Cook said, the only time that you are happy in an accident is after you rear end someone... Then get rear-ended yourself.

Sorry to hear about that, and hopefully this will teach the Cavalier driver why you should never tailgate. You're basically putting your life in the hands of the person in front of you. I know a lot of you here do that, and you should SERIOUSLY stop that practice. You're risking lives, property damage, and unnecessary stress for you both you and the person in front of you if you hit him/her.
Sorry for the rant, but these type of accidents are really easy to prevent, if only these idiots... nvm
OK all I can tell you is that when some drunken idiot backed into my bumper, I had it repainted by a Scion/Toyota body shop, and I was not happy with the results. Horrendous orange peel to start of with. Then they tried to "buff it out", and got rid of the orange peel but left my paint with small craters and some really nasty unremovable swirl marks. My car is white, but at night these swirl marks really look bad. Your car is a dark color so any flaw will look much worse than on a lighter colored car.
I am now looking into getting the bumper repainted by another body shop who's worked I've already seen. I would strongly suggest you avoid any dealer body shops and instead take your car to a real pro.
I also saw this on motor week. Might want to check it out. If your damages are more than superficial.http://www.i-car.com/
Good luck man, I hope everything works out for you. Oh and stop tailgating people.

Toyota/Scion collision center or Honda body shop (BBB member) ? I dont really trust any shops in town cause of the facility and the equipments they have. Have you guys experienced with Maaco ? or any close to 51501 ? Thanks for the help ..
maaco? that's a joke, anytime i've ever heard of them its always cheap work. if you want problems you go there.
i'd try an independent body shop, i agree with others that the dealership body shops are cheap and lie a lot. someone in your area HAS to know a good independent body shop. do some digging, the truth is out there!

^^^ i agree.. this is what you do.. I have gone to some body shops at dealers and they have done great jobs and some have done bad jobs... you can always ask for one of their finished works.. why?? because if they are any good they will always have a car that is finished sitting out in their lot... second.. I'm not sure how it is in your state, but the cavy ins should pay for everything, but you might have to wait... if you don't want to wait then you go through you ins and they later sue the cavy's ins for the money. You will have to pay your deductable.. if you don't want to pay the deduct then you go through their ins. I would not recommend going through your ins because ins companies can be shady too.. like they might raise your premium because you did make a claim, even though they will get their money back..
Finally, you have less than 100k miles on your car.. if they don't total it out then ask (not sure of the technical term) for the depreciation difference back.. something like that.. I know in Ga if your car has less than 100k mile if you ask for it, the ins company will give you money back for the depreciated value. not much but a few hundred dollars.
