you should if you want to-
you shouldn't if you don't

it's really up to you. they are great cars, and you probably came to the wrong place if you're looking to be talked out of it. we love em.

hey. i have a tC, and at the time i was buying my car, i honestly didn't like the xB. BUT, after being on this forum for a while and getting into the whole customization scene, i've realized that they have BIG potential. i still don't think they're all that great completely stock, but i could have made it darn nice with the money i would've saved compared with the tC. but hey, i love my tC. make sure you look at all your options first. bottom line: if you plan to modify the box, get it. if not, eh... maybe.

When I first saw the xB in a Tuner Mag, back in '03, I knew I had to have one cause it was so unique, cause of the boxiness. In 'Feb.'05, I bought one.
You'll know if you want one cause your gut instinct will tell you, "I got to get me one!"...
BTW, my decision was made easier cause the one I wanted was parked in front of the dealership, made possible thru a dealer trade. So I didn't have to wait 2 weeks or a month like some others were doing...

I would say confirm the "want factor" to a "need" with a test drive. Deffinately test drive any vehicle before purchasing. Also if you decide to get one, you should get the RS.4!

well i'm defintely going to modify it....wouldn't have it any differently.

as far as the "want" factor, i want a G35........what i "need" is an affordable "family vehicle" that I can mod and still have fun with...

You know if you want it when you KNOW. Its the, love at first sight, kinda thing. I saw it in Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero when it first came out and after seeing that, i got it spring '05. We cant convince you based on how much we like it, its going to be all personal decisions. Im happy with my car, and they have unlimited possibilities. Just look around here.

omg wait for those parts!!! wait wait wait x100000! what you'll discover is that scions have a large aftermarket full of good deals. for example: the dealership where i bought my tC wanted to charge me close to 200 bucks for the scion L.E.D. light "enhancements." i told him no thanks. the other day, i just ordered a custom but COMPLETE interior lighting project for the tC from oznium.com. total price: $41. plus, its gonna probably be 3 times better than the factory option. i hope you get the picture. i wasnt too "rambley", was i?

Default thinking of getting an XB

I got my XB because of its uniqueness, affordability, gas mileage and roominess. And I got the RS 2.0 version because it was way different. Still love it, and don't regret it at all.
But you will have to make the final decision. Definately take one for a test drive, but keep in mind that thay will soon be gone. Meaning that they should hold their value even better than they do now.

i forget the price on that, but again i'll say to check the aftermarket. the TRDs do look pretty nice, but there are soooo many affordable aftermarket rims. have you checked www.tirerack.com? they have a decent listing of how certain wheels would look on the xB.

It's the kind of vehicle that just hits you. I fell in love when they first came out in Japan back around 2k. Hoped like hell they would come here and finally got one mid-04'. It's hard to describe the feeling in words.
BTW, 18"TRDs are about the perfect wheel for the xB IMHO. It took me 2 1/2 years but eventually got them too.

$2K for 18" wheels and tires? You can do a lot better than that in the aftermarket... a lot, lot better. You'll also have the original wheels&tires to do with as you please...

If there's a discount tire near you, it's a good place to start shopping around...

My reasons were much the same as wagonbldr's, and the box hasn't disappointed me.

It is an economy car, intended for urban assault purposes- it's not a luxo road cruiser, at all. And if you want a fast car, look elsewhere. this ain't it. The automatics are a full second slower to 60 than the 5spd, too... although they cruise better at high speed because of the taller gearing...

Things you'll want for sure-

Progress or TRD rear swaybar- easy to install, solid handling improvement.

Sound deadening- PITA to install, lots of work, but worth the effort, as the box is kinda noisy in stock form. EDead or Raammat , 60-120 sqft, depending on your preference...

Rear bumper applique- cheap, easy, and a real no-brainer .

Aftermarket sound system if you're an afficianado- the stock system is OK, nothing stellar...

Floormats, for sure, factory or otherwise...

Lots of other stuff available. Shifters, axleback mufflers, intakes (not calif legal) roofracks, headlights, taillights, the list goes on...

If you want a fast car this car is not for you lol....if you dont care about burning rubber and just want a roomy, comfy, super reliable car than this car has it all...

I came from a 06' mitsu evolution ix, i totaled it and went and got a scion xb last week cuz my gf has one and its real comfy..i was sad about the power it had but other than that the car is totally perfect for a daily driver and im 100% happy choosing an XB..plus you get good MPG, my insurance went down a ton, car payments are low because they arent very expensive cars...and on top of it they are totally customizable which is fun
