View Full Version : Any suggestions on Seats?
joedjin 12-07-2003, 05:26 PM Is it just me? or do the seats suck!
I want to put some aftermarket seats in because I need good lumber support.
The Stock seats just aren't cuttin' it for me.
I've been looking @ Sparco, Tenzo, Recaro, Corbeau and Momo.
So far I like the design of and what I've read about Recaro and Corbeau.
any info is greatly appriceated.
Thanks, Joe

showpaojoe 12-07-2003, 07:42 PM DAD seats rock for the money. I had those reapolstered in tan/white suade, they feel great and fit a big guy better than the recaro's and are better quality than tenzo in my opinion.
Cheshire_Cat 12-09-2003, 08:42 AM Does anyone know what brand is the best quality at the best price?
joedjin 12-09-2003, 05:29 PM I Don't mind the stock look so much as the lack of comfort and lumbar support.
That's the main reason I am asking.
its_ikon 12-10-2003, 12:24 AM those are all great brands to get. you just need to look at your budget and the options the seats has.
showpaojoe 12-10-2003, 03:24 AM I just got back from my cousins shop and he has a set of Bride XAX seats. They look awesome. Not rounded like other seats, these are kinda square shaped and have supreme support features. These felt way better than the recaros I sat in but they are unfortunately way out of my price range. I think the 2 went for like $1350 and that was for me, anyone else is atleast $1600. Thay's just crazy but if I could get anything ,this is what I'd chose
Cheshire_Cat 12-10-2003, 03:36 AM I can't afford to spend alot of money......
showpaojoe 12-10-2003, 03:38 AM Me neither, how much are you looking to spend? Did you try the TRD race seats? They are in black and red and are less than $400 for the pair.
its_ikon 12-10-2003, 03:47 AM bride seats are some of the best, but you will pay a lot for them. if you are on a budget then corbeau or tenzo will probably be the best.
G-Force 12-10-2003, 05:21 AM recaros - awesome support and the materials and build quality will last you forever. I've seen 9 yr olds SRDs that looked brand new!
SCI_FIRE 12-10-2003, 05:39 AM If you are on a budget, how about finding a nice lumbar support cushion-thing for the seat-back (they come in all sizes and lengths), and then cover with a fancy seat cover? Then you would have more money for different upgrades.

Or--if you are on a budget, get Arospeed seats. They are made by Recaro.
Cheshire_Cat 12-10-2003, 07:15 AM All the links on the Arospeed site are dead.....
Any pics or pricing on these?
joedjin 12-10-2003, 03:45 PM I found a site that sells sets of Arospeed seats.
check it out here: www.autotoyaz.com/arracseat.html
joedjin 12-10-2003, 04:14 PM I think I'm going to go w/ the Recaro Style ($745), or Sport ($715).
I know they have excellent back support.
Docofmind 12-10-2003, 04:35 PM I have a brand new set of RED SPec R seats if anyone is interested. BRAND NEW still in the plastic. Sliders included. 2 seats. If anyone is interested, let me knowhttp://www.weapon-r.com/racingseatspage.html
onecentJay 12-10-2003, 04:50 PM My first mod was a $12 lumbar support pillow from Staples. Niiiiice...
Ladies, watch out.
I wonder if a upholsterer could install a lumbar support cushion behind the fabric, so its not so dorky-looking. That might be worth the, what, $50 to do?
Cheshire_Cat 12-10-2003, 07:12 PM Those are nice seats, but for me, I'd get black.
sk8er602 12-18-2003, 12:21 AM Black Bride Brix with takata harnesses
showpaojoe 12-18-2003, 12:29 AM sure thing mr. money bags
TheRedBox 12-18-2003, 12:43 AM Black Bride Brix with takata harnesses
Ok over 2gs on seats!!
Seats are up to you. All i can tell you from experience is that Sparcos generally sit bout an inch (maybe more) higher.. Brides sit WAY LOW...

Cobra is probably one of the most technologically advanced racing seat brands in the world...
A seat like a Suzuka is between $650.00 - $690.00, made of real Kevlar, only 15 to 17 lbs. and FIA approved. That means, it's approved for real racing, not like some other look-a-likes.
The Suzuka GT is a bit wider than the regular Suzuka, and the "Technology" models have the most advanced cushion technology + Alcantara upholstery...
Just my $0.02... :)
Later,
Andrés.
(By the way, I'd love to buy an xA... I'm testing one next weekend here in Miami!).
LowMileLude 01-29-2004, 12:45 AM Grr I just took home that Super Street magazine that I had here at work...
It had about 70 different racing seats, the pricing, weight, sizing (based upon 4 different people's build) I had a few picked for my Pinto.
Lets see if I can find it...
Cheif_Thundercloud 01-29-2004, 08:46 PM Corbeaus are nice and about mid-priced.
bluexA 02-07-2004, 02:15 AM Myself I do yoga...
:D nice for the back.
raiden1200 02-07-2004, 03:25 AM don't know if the lumbarsupports are an option, but you should chek out the Tempurpedic ones @ brookstone, and buy a pillow too. the material they use is comfortable as
