Default Inconsistency at Groppetti Toyota Scion In Visalia, CA

Here you go boys and girls. Spin the wheel and see what price you get.

I called about replacement shocks for the rear of my tC. First guy I spoke with told me 99.14 for a set. I thought WTF...no way that's right, that's way to low.....the guy insisted that was for the set of both rears. I double checked the part number and called TRD Sparks. The are always lower and I will buy from them before anyone else but this price made me curious. TRD Sparks verified the part number as correct but said that is for 1 not 2.

Called Groppetti again and spoke to different guy. This time he says it will be 110.45 for each one. I said wait a second, the last guy i spoke with qouted me 99.14 for both. He said...oh uh no, they are 110 but ok I'll sell them to you for 99.14.

Word of note......do they make prices up over the phone. Should I call again and make it like an auction of who will give me a lower price? WTF?

I politley told him no thank you that I would be purchasing from another dealer who gives consistant pricing and knows their parts apparantly much better.

Thanks for listening.

Absolutely! Pitting vendors against one another in a "bidding war" is one way you can try to ensure you get the lowest price. Good luck and caveat emptor.

The 2 different prices came from 2 different guys at the same parts counter at the same DEALERSHIP!

I am going to order from TRD Sparks, Josh and Ken are reliable and I feel much more trustworthy.

For what its worth, human error doesn't constitute being a crook. Keep shopping and good luck!

Yes, they did not try to rip you off.. they just had a less than knowledgeable person answering the phone the first time.

Maybe, who knows. I have been there before and just had an uncomfortable feeling then so maybe that's just kind of fueling the fire you know.

Yes, I understand that, and read it in your initial post before making my response, and it has nothing to do with what I stated. Whether two people from the same place, or different vendors, attempt to get the best price you can...or don't, it doesn't matter what you do to me.
