I just picked up a 2006 xB a month or so ago and I'm trying to prioritize my mods. I'm currently looking into tint and have some questions. What's stock % tint on the back windows. I'm in WI and the law says 50% is my limit for driver and passenger and 35% in back. What's the darkest you guys would suggest that wouldn't get me hassled by the cops? Any pics? I appreciate the help.

 

i had the tint shop match the 2 front door windows with the rest of the factory tint...its perfect, not too dark to get hassled but dark enough to keep the sun from being anoying

 

The rear windows come at 35% from the factory. I got 50% on the front side windows.
Can you have a windshield banner? Three inches from the top or the AS1 line.
This helps a lot more than that factory mesh behind the rear view mirror.

What's the AS1 line?

 

The rear windows are much more like 20% than 35%.

 

I'm thinkin that too...mine are about 20% in the back...had the dealer match them on the front...they are darker than I expected.

 

There are small markings on our windshields, required by the D.O.T.
Look on the drivers side about 3 inches down from the top, there is a marked line labled AS1. Some states will only allow a banner of tint above that line.

Exactly what I did. Looks factory, and keeps the sun off the guys up front...

 

I don't think I have any indicators for an AS1 line

 

I went with limo on the front, and 20% on the rest.

The rear windows are actually like 27%. I did my fronts in 35% to aid in nightime driving and it matches good enough during the day. Hope this helps

It's actually quite fun racing xBs one on one. You should try it before knocking it.

 

sorry man when the bike can get me down the 1/4 in around 10-11 seconds my family car just doesnt sound like much fun for that. what do xbs do the quarter in 17 seconds? i forgot the xb was made to race huh lol. to each his own i guess but i aint gonna rice out my xb

 

Well, that was kind of harsh.
Obviously, you've never done any real drag racing (and by the way, that 600 may do HIGH 10s or low 11s in the hands of a professional in the 1/4...), but its a blast, regardless of what you're driving. Yes, my Cobra Jet Mach 1 is fast and is awesome racing, but I can see how running against other equally matched cars like another xB would be a lot of fun.
Don't knock it 'til you've tried it...!

dang im a professional? thats awesome lol. i aint no professional just cuz i can run under 11 in the 1/4.

i just thought that picture was like a spoof like someone lined up the xb's as a joke to take a picture. i had no idea someone would actually take their xb out there to flex at the strip lol
