Sorry to hear it happened. Those a$$holes will get theirs... :tap:
This is EXACTLY why I don't brag on a worldwide forum on what's in my xB. This exact thing(theft) is happening alot lately cause of forums like these... :tap:
SOME OF YOU NEED TO STOP TALKING ABOUT YOUR SYSTEMS AND SHOWING PHOTOS CAUSE YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT THERE ARE THIEVES OUT THERE WATCHING THESE FORUMS!!!

FRIENDS...forget that! They are the same ones that will jack your schitt cause they know EVERYTHING about you and your ride and your daily routines.

TRUST NO ONE!!!!!!!!!!!

That is horrible. A guy I know left his nintendo wii in his xB, and someone broke into it and stole all the stuff. I don't want to say how the guy broke into it, because it's a new way for ANYONE to get into the xB, and it scares me knowing someone out there knows how to do this.

It sucks because alarms still don't stop most people and insurance usually won't cover the "extras" it it exceeds a dollar amount. (Every insurance company is different)

I don't have any of that stuff and my box got broken into in Nashville. Wife had taken it down for a DMB concert and parked in a garage. They busted the right rear door window.

My guess, which the wife came up with, is that with the look they thought a bunch of gear was going to be in it. Everyone talks about putting their amps under the passenger seat, so that's where they were headed.

I didn't have anything (yet) but they got a friend's taping equipment. About 5k worth of gear.

Damn dude, that really sucks! SOunds like you had a really nice system =( this is the exact reason why I don't hook up my box - Rims, system, etc - I don't do any of that. You spend months earning money to spend on your box just to have some jealous mother f'ers steal it within minutes.... I don't think I'm ever going to hook up a car -that way I don't become a target....

I hope you get your stuff back - best of luck!

doesn't matter if you brag on the forum or not, my friend's f-150 was stolen and was about to be stipped, but luckily the police happened to come across it in time that all they got was his steering wheel. his truck is pretty much a work truck he got on ebay for dirt cheap that he doesn't care about, brag about or show off whatsoever. he is more into his crotch rocket. he did put a awesome sound system in it but that was because he worked at a car stereo place and got it all for next to nothing and installed it himself.

anyway, silyotter, i noticed your windows aren't tinted. i think that is one of the best security systems there is because if they can't see inside and peep anything good, they will probably move on to another car that is more of a sure thing. my explorer had a great system in it, but all you could see was a detached radio head. i had stuff like the big amps hidden in the wheel well, and my cargo cover over the sub.

also, if you spend alot of money on gawdy shiny stuff outside your car, thieves will assume you spent even more on the inside. also, if you put stickers on your car for like audio equipment, then you are literally putting a sign on your car that says my car is worth stealing from.

as far as insurance goes. i have esurance, and they have a separate option for insuring up to a certain dollar amount of aftermarket add-ons like rims, audio, body kits etc, that if you don't have, they would only restore the missing parts to stock, unless they are toyota/trd dealership installed parts. my dad told me though that somehow should the audio equipment be stolen out of my explorer, it was somehow covered by his theft policy on our house. not sure how that works though.

anyway, sorry it happened, but don't get discouraged, move on, rebuild, maybe try something different, improve, get a window tint and a good alarm system. also, since they was at your house, they might come back later and do it again since they hit bank this time. repaint your car and get new plates maybe so they won't recognize it.

It sucks when your car is broken into.

The way I have my system you can't see anything except the aftermarket HU and I always take the face off. No one would know that I have a ton of $$$ into it.

I had my xB broken into and I have nothing but a stock audio system. They were scared off before damaging anything but the driver side window. Still finding glass over a year later. I feel your pain...........

^^^ LOLOLOLOLOL!!!!! Again, the same reason I don't touch my xB. I use a tablet laptop in my xb for navigation/music/movies (on road trips) but that's something that's removable and i almost ALWAYS take it with me out of the car or i hide it (and the mount for it) immediately after use. frmo the outside, it's a stock xB and from the inside, when you look through the window, it is completely stock looking!!!

I think there is this mod bug that goes around that gets everyone modding. while this is great when you live in the burbs, if you live in the city - especially nyc - you're just asking for it.

dont get me wrong - there are tons of modded cars here in nyc but i have also heard of tons of peoples cars getting broken into, having things stolen, etc.

a stock car blends into the background more... even a box. like they say "The nail that sticks out gets hammered."

I think if you live in a city or an apartment you have a much bigger chance of having you car broken into.

any leads from the popo? were they able to pull any prints?

yup ^^^

I had big plans for the box - had a full fiberglass sub/amp setup in the back painted white - but having to park everyday in the city, I learned my lesson quick!!!! Im still going to mod the box, but everything will be function over form from now on and hiding things will be important... i hope everything is worked out for you.

Thanks everybody for your supprt!!. .. im still working with mu omsiramce company and the huntington beach police dept. I found out last night hat the security guard that guards our poarking lot happend to leave and go home sock at about 3:45am.. and my car was borken into at 4:30am.. and they ahd all the specif tools neecessary to remove the amfm/cd out of hte dash w/o damaging an ything . and as to one poster . my wiindows ARE tinted. Xtra dark on teh back doors and windows. light on teh front sides and a sun strip.. whoever broke in knew exactly what they wanted and took it. .my dvd / video system is still under one seat and my xm was still on the dash.. go figure. and as a note i always made sure not to turn my radio up at all or have my windows down anywhere near my complex.
But thanks again everybody for your support!

Why don’t you tell xb owners like me what the new way of braking into our cars?
If I can make my car harder to brake into, I would like to. I am in an information security course at MATC. Microsoft liked to hide and not talk about there security issues making it better for hackers and the like to explore and exploit the operating system. Now with Linux when a person finds a flaw its a race in the community to fix the problem. First one to make a good patch for the system gets there name known and the problem gets fix very fast. I would rather have everyone know how to brake into my car than not be able to know how to myself, if a few other people know.

I know people who have nice systems and don't post pics online and talk about them in forum, they have had thier doodoo jacked too. Let the cops to thier job, let them go over your vehicle, get all the info they need, chances are they will be able to find who did it. As far as your stuff, unless you got a rider on your insurace covering aftermarket parts, you are most likely out the cash.

Another reason I wanted to know is that over the summer my dad started a deck building business and eventually worked up the money to pay for all the tools and a van ($12,000 worth). We live in a low crime area, where the cops will pull you over for any reason at any time. Our van was stolen off our driveway about 10 feet from where it happened. Now getting a stereo stolen, yes I would be mad as hell. These low life @#$@ messed with our way of live and ability to make money honestly. They found the guys we believed that did it but could not prove it. They went back to prison for doing the exact same thing days latter, blocks away. One was found in a van high on CRACK. We never did get our van or tools back. Probably traded for crack. That is why i want to know how to protect our toys and tools.
