Default Painting brakes to match the body?

I am considering painting my brake calipers in the near future. I was planing on useing one of Dupli-Color's kits to do the project.

I'm wondering if it's possible to easily paint my brake calipers to match the color of my car(Flint Mica). Would something like this be doable in a weekend, or would it be better left off to a pro?

I don't have much experience with painting, automotive or otherwise, and I think that it would look cool to have brakes matching my car. If this is something that might not be a good idea I will probably paint them black.

Could someone with photoshop skills do a rendering of what my car might look like with different colored calipers?

Thanks

Flint Mica with the sparkles and all would definately be hard for you to do, i would say DEFINATELY go to a paint shop and have them do it....

i dont think the paint will hold up to the heat of the brakes

it would be tough driving with your brake calipers at the paint shop.
how would you stop?
you should really consider thinkin that through!

Do it ! Ive had mine alredy 7 months and not one chip due to bbad paint just One in the rear right caliper because a friend of mine was trying to clean my brake pad and hit it with a high pressure water gun and it chipped a piece but nithing else ... by the way use the high heat colors, if duplicolor is not high heat it wont last Good luck and keep us informed

its easy just
-take the rim out
-cover the brake discs, lines and suspension (Plastic Bags will work wonderfully)
-clean your calipers with a degreaser of sorts and dry em out
-paint it doing strokes of light coats and being at a distance of 5-6 inches, till its a deep color
-let it dry out for 15-20 minutes
-take the covers of off the brake discs
-put the rim back on
repeat the steps until finished with 4 brake calipers
its relatively easy
just use some good paint HIGH HEAT RESISTANT PAINT because all other will melt through time and look FUGLY (Ive seen it)
and this is coming from a guy who has done this job 5 times for his friends and his car

believe me you wont need pictures but if you do or are alittle bit precautious, Im going to paint mine again so they look shiny and beautiful for the Scion Evolution First Chapter Reunion in PONCE, PR this thursday So Ill try to take pictures of the steps
so if your interested in pics PM me
Good luck and Good painting
GOD BLESS!!

Dupli-color doesn't have the caliper paint for flint mica.

^^Yeah. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a high temp. match for FM. High temp. paint seems to only come in basic, solid colors.

Just do black. It will be (A) easier to find and (B) give you the stealth (albeit not FM) look you're going for.
REMEMBER to clear coat after painting!!

when doing this painting would you have to take the calipers off the car? or by doing it Joselo way work and the way everyone does it?

Depends on what type of paint you use. If you use the brush-on paint, you do not need to remove the caliper. (That's the method I used.) If you use high temp spray paint, then you have to mask everything off and remove the caliper from the rotor. (Most of the time. I guess some people leave the caliper attached to the rotor.)

If you do use the Dupli-Color brush-on kit, get better brushes! The included brush $ucks big time. Just go to Lowe's/Home Depot and pick up a pack of "Artist's Brushes". (It's like $3 bucks a pack.) The brushes will help with doing the fine details. Also, they will help with touch-ups later down the line.

Look at my profile. i painted mine red, and i love it. duplicolor high temp paint. be sure to buy a kit or a brush - you dont want overspray.

I bought high temp. engine enamel in a rattle can but I was feeling too lazy (imagine that ) to mask everything off. I just sprayed the paint into a container and then used a brush to apply it. :D

u can maybe like attempt to make ur own FM...they have a pretty good choice ranger for the engine enamel paint...so start with like a gray..and get some automotive(have alot of diff. types) and get a green pearl...and just spray them in 1 container..im sure u can mess aroiund with it to the point where u would have enough to do a brush-on project..

Kishan P.

I have a FM btw, with red calipers and it looks pretty sweet in my oppinion..ill post pics if u like

what about getting behind the caliper? Amd Matt your calipers look pretty smooth... did you take a die-grinder to them to smooth them out?
