There's a nice amount of glare from a scratch I have on the light housing...but it works out great because its on the passenger side, so essentially it only lights up road signs..and it lights them up from miles away and makes them GLOW!

Why does this kit have an extra power/ground wire. The wires the ballast get plugged into after removing the stock light/harness are power/ground...

its a relay so that your stock harness doesn't take all the power jolt from when the ballast and igniter start up initially.

There are only one set of power/ground wires. These are hooked directly into the battery. This is where all the power is being drawn from. On the relay harness, you only hook up a single headlight socket and all this does is activates a relay. Once the relay is activated, the ballasts draw power from the battery, not through headlight socket. The main idea being, that you're not spiking the car's factory wiring harness.

Since it was my first time to install an HID kit it took me about 30-35 mins. Otherwise, the install was pretty easy I was just making sure everything I was doing was right. Didn't want to blow something out. Also, Im loving the kit.

I am not quite sure what you mean by the "lil triangle light marks." I was looking at the pictures above and I am not quite sure what you mean, could you photoshop a circle around what you mean in the picture for me?

He's probably talking about the little triangles on the ground. The lights omit light which reflects towards the ground.

I am somewhat interested in HID for my Sonar Projectors... Has anyone used them in it?

Projectors do not have much light output and it is very dim vs oem headlights. Does anyone have comparisons?

Why is everyone so hyped on HIDs in the TC ? Noone has mentioned that the glare just in the pictures is horrendous . Can you imagine driving on a road with these things ? Do a retrofit or get some projectors . These lights do nothing but glare out . I can see light all over the place . Very few ever talk about how bad the glare is in here . Is it because they are too stupid to understand or is it a banned subject so more will buy HID kits ? I am sorry but , as stated , the pictures on page 28 of this thread show an awful glare and should show people not to get HID kits if they are going to use them in the factory housing .

Truth is, you can't really expect any better because the tC lights are not meant to house HIDs, period.
For me, I'm only considering these for my fogs because of what you stated.
You simply can't get the same results with (any) kit that costs $140 and uses bulb housings.

Not knocking them, but I personally hate when someone drives behind me and blinds me - even through the tint and the mirror down.

I'm getting them for my fogs only.

Oh they're really bright. I tried being a little responsible by pointing the lights down on the road and not to oncoming traffic. I'd say that's SOP for putting HIDs in reflective headlight housings. :D

Projectors will help the cut off and cut down on excess glare. Our stock housings aren't really that prone to glare anyways. Just aim the left one down a bit and you'll be fine. Just remember: Aftermarket housings will require a different style bulb. 9006 is stock and aftermarket will be something like H3 or something like that. NOT interchangeable.

If you want projectors, get them first and THEN get the HIDs. If not, stock housings will be fine. Just aim the driver's side down a bit.

Silverstars will have absolutely no comparison to HIDs. They are ok for your highbeams (which you'll never end up using really) and even then, they will be much dimmer than your stock HIDs.

Why aim the driver's side down? Why not the passenger side? The passenger side is the one with all the flaring that glares to the right. I think you should align your headlights perfectly parallel to the ground first and then notch them down just a tad and you should be good. I did that an no one has flashed me with my silverstars. My friend did that with his HIDs and no one has flashed him.

All headlights are designed to aim off to the right. You are supposed to be able to see more of the shoulder off to the right than off to the left.

If you aim the right one down, you'll lose a lot of vision directly in front of you. Aiming the LEFT one keeps it out of the eyes of on coming traffic.

Perfectly level is not able to be done. ALL HEADLIGHTS are aimed to a certain degree off to the right side of the road. It may seem perfectly level when you align it, but your lights are actually aiming to the right side of the road.

Oh, I've been flashed 1 time PRIOR to aiming my left light down. My right light is slightly higher than stock......both "seem" level against a wall from 20 feet away, but from 50+ feet, the right side travels along the road further giving me more vision ahead and not blinding oncoming traffic.

Yes, b/c they are hooked directly to the battery, they can be turned on without the car being on. Although, I don't remember the stock setup being any different.

They have a charge cylce. They will kick on full power, dim down to allow the current to flow throught he ballasts, and then slowly come up to full brightness when the ballasts are fully powered.

I just installed them. It's day time but so far I love them. They're bright, but what do I know. I was in my garage. I can't wait for tonight when I get out of work and watch them charge up for real. But as I was testing them out and testing out the hi beam (got them reversed on the driver's side the first time), I noticed that I fully charged all the ballasts and then when I switch in between hi and lo, on either side, sometimes it starts to charge up again. Like one side goes back to full power while the other is like half powered and powers up again after half a second. Should I be worried or is that a normal thing? Other than that they seem fine. Not much glare as far as I can see, but I'll be driving around tonight and aiming them once it's dark.

In tests "by a leading consumer magazine" the SilverStar and other "white" bulbs were found to put out LESS light than new OEM bulbs in every application - except for one (one GE bulb produce more light in one fitment). The SS bulbs may be whiter or bluer than OEM bulbs but are not putting out a lot more light than a NEW OEM bulb.

HID bulbs in the 4,000k-5,000k color range will put out a little more light than most OEM HIGH BEAMS and a good bit more light than OEM LOW BEAMS.

The trouble is controlling and directing the light - you are likely to lose some distance in a single bulb replacement headlights (like the xB) with single HID kits - since you have to lower the aiming point and you have no high beam. So the net effect is brighter light, but MAYBE less distance. If you have a quad light car (tC?) and just replace the low beams then you still have your high beams- or on the xB you can opt for the dual HID kit and get a little more range to the beam than the single kit.

The perfect solution is a OEM retrofit - where you make some OEM HID projector headlights (like from a BMW, Audi, etc) work in your car, that can be a lot of work and money - for sure a lot more money than the $140 delivered for a single HID kit as in this thread.

Twist then pull. It's that simple. If you wanna replace it, it's a 194 peanut bulb.

I've got a hyper white 194 bulb in there. Blue when off and very white when turned on :).

Been driving around with them tonight. I'm pretty impressed on the output. It's a lot and a lot more different than the Silverstars. The 6000k is a little too blue for me, but maybe I'll get used to it. What kelvin are the ones that BMWs use?

The cut off on the xA isn't sharp. It's the reflective headlight huh? There's some glare, but not as bad I'd expect it to be. I'm just wondering what I could do to get a sharp cut off.

if 6000k is too blue.. then 4300k would be ideal setup as its pure white.

as for cut off.. you would need quality projectors so a retrofit would be best. Not sure if they make quality projectors headlights for xA though. Hidplanet is a good place for information

Pepboys: The front corner bulb is a 7440W and the little one is a 194W. On the back of the packages, make sure they have a W after the part number in the SKU and not a B. If it is a B, they will burn blue and not white. My turn signals burn white also :)

Our H4 single xenon kits come with a metallic dab on the underside of the bulb which serves the same purpose as a glare shield and on our H4 bi-xenon kits it comes with an actual shield.

Installation isnt that hard. run a wiring harness, mount the ballasts... should only take an hour or so

try switching the plug on the ballast around... its hard to explain, but i had them plugged int he wrong way and mine didnt go off (this was the kit i installed myself not operatic.

operatic (pat) is sick, i went to his house last weekend and we installed my brakes in 30 min, (all 4 corners) and we might tackly my pulley this weekend if he has time :pray:

ive already removed them and put my stocks back on. im sure i had everything done right because at one point, both of them turned on, but then it just went out after a few seconds. i swtiched them and everything it would only be one side that the bulb comes on (driver). there was no power coming out of the passenger side ballast cause i didnt hear the little buzzy sound. then i put that ballast on the driver side and it seemed to work fine. i cant think it would be anything else but the relay harness

crappity smack i missed the sale but i am still going to buy a kit. my only problem is which ones do i want. i really like the violet look but i dont know if i'll catch crap from the law.

12000 will give you the voilet look but uhhhh... no where near as bright as silverstars and will be pretty dim. Also the cops will def look at your car. Might wanna search on tC aero and exterior section about hid's

6000K FTW!!!

I always hear that 12000k is a boat load dimmer than 4300k. So I took a picture of both in the same car to find out. The results; 4300k is not that much brighter than 12000k. Just pick the color you like the most. Here are some pictures I took.

The whole kit is plug and play. The most you have to do is connect 5 connections and ground 1 wire and put another wire to a 12v source (positive post of the battery)

ben just do it. i have 2 sets (lows and fogs) and they are so easy to install a caveman could do it (so yea you could do it :rofl: ) but seriously u know ur a baller and a baller has to have HIDs thats why i have 2 :P
