Default Pulley troubles*Update*

Ok I installed my perrin crank pulley hmm like 2 months ago.........a month later my power steering belt split in half. I got the dealer to fix it, cool! .........A month later the belt just flips its self over! (grooves up) before the pulley i had no problems with it at all. anyone else experiencing something like this?

hmm...i would try removing the pully, purchasing a new nut from the dealer (as there only intended to be used once), and attempt to realign the pulley by making sure it sits properly. good luck to ya.

Ok I figured out why all this was happening. I shredded another belt exactly a month later today. Anyways, my "AGENCY POWER" CRANK PULLEY is off. It doesnt match the original. Its off by just a bit but I believe its enough to throw the belt off. It flipped its self over again today. I loosened everything set it right and tightened everythign up again. I then had my dad rev the engine and there was a loud crack and the belt just flipped over to the smoothe side. heres some pics fo yall!

So is it just your pulley or is there something you have to do to fix the problem?

I hope mine doesn't have that problem. I haven't installed it yet. Im going to have a mechanic do it. I tried to install it but I couldn't get that lower alternator bolt loose so I gave it quits.

i've had exactly the same prob with my perrin, to the extent that it failed at the weekend with the standard pully in (caused by the damage caused by the perrin pully) the end of the crank is now chewed up + the car needs a new crank.

Oh man! Jeeze hows it that bad? All that could go wrong with mine was the belt. Was yours like hitting the case or somethin?

More likely the end of the crank was chewed up by improper installation of the Perrin pulley, so that the threads would no longer hold the stock pulley when it was re-installed after the Perrin came loose.

well being a qualified mechanical engineer i can tell you it was installed correctly, infact how can you not install it corectly? and there is nothing wrong with the threads on the bolt, the bolt was stud locked and dogged up very tight.

How did the end of the crank get chewed up by the Perrin pulley?

it was worn ever so slightly when the perrin ____ed up. enough wear for the standard one to vibrate and cause the bolt to come loose, and of course when the standard one is bouncing around on the end of the crank (metal on metal) your going to get a lot of wear.

What does "Perrin flipped up" mean? Did the Perrin pulley come loose and is that what damaged the end of the crank? Why did the Perrin come loose?

fu**ed up (swear filter changed it).

the perrin came loose due to vibration, possibly because of a manufacturing fault.

So a properly installed Perrin pulley came loose, mangled the end of the crankshaft so it won't hold another pulley, which required the engine to be torn down and a new crankshaft installed.

It sounds like you are saying the Perrin was so unbalanced that it vibrated itself off the crank. That amount of pulley imbalance should be easy to prove, so maybe Perrin will pay for everything, no?
