How do you strip 0 or 4 awg wire? ive got some knukonceptz stuff in but i dono how to strip the jacket off the end of it....there doesnt seem to be a tool big enough to strip that...help plz!!

 

use a razor blade. circle around and cut a slit down the side?

 

is that the only way to do it?

 

yep or you pull out wire with the jacket. The razor methoud works the best

 

there are many ways to skin a cat. and a wire. that should do the trick, if you don't have a tool.

i used a pair of scissors.

just keep chomping down and go around the wire.


but yeah, a razor blade sounds easier :-P

 

Razor, scissors, pocket knife... all do pretty much the same thing. Just carefully cut a circle around the outside. Make sure you don't cut too deep and you'l be fine.

 

i like the razor blade method.. found it was the easiest for me

 

scissors did the trick for me. just take your time and try not to cut so deep that you actually cut the wire too. good luck.

 

here's a trick i like to use when you really don't want to cut a single wire...

use the razor blade again and cut it around... but not all the way down to the wire...

take pliers... and rip the rest of it off

 

I have this super-sharp box cutter that I just circled around the wire. What i'm trying to figure out is how to cleanly cut this garden hose of a cable!

 

lol thats my next problem im gonna run into in a minute....i dont think i have the tools for that one....so maybe take it bit by bit? like cut off 1/5th of the strands at a time? idk, anyone have ideas?

 

Ahhh... well a high quality cigar cutter can do it... otherwise just get some snips and cut them a bit at a time as evenly as you can.

 

i say get a leatherman (multi-tool).. use the blade to trim around the plastic part, and just twist it off after its cut. you could also maybe use the wire strippers that are on the pliers. ok so im kinda biased on leatherman... ask squall.. he knows i never leave home without it. . lol.. it just comes VERY VERY handy when you dont expect it. :D
