Default TC= lexas?

The dealer that my sister bought her TC told my mom that Lexas was originally going to put out the TC but the ended up turning it down and Toyota got it. It kinda does look like a lexas from side angels. But dealers are really good bull____ters, ya know?

Is it true?

possibly but if it was anything (since toyota owns and is lexus) they probably did some customer studies to see if lexus or scion buyers would want a coupe more... but I haven't heard that before.

Actually if you look at the front end of the TC from the side, it has some looks of a BMW.... headlights that is. Maybe it's just me.

A couple of the designers of the lexus brand helped design the tC...that's about it. It wasn't a Lexus scrap...although it does feel like one

you'll find that a lot of times, aside from being flat out lied to, that dealer sales people know less about the cars than most of their educated buyers who do research on the net... i wouldn't hold the Lexus statement in too high of regard.

actually a good friend of mine and fellow matrix owner who works at the local toyota plant here in KY told me that was well.

I would believe it, b/c of the way the interior looks and feels.

Pull the headunit out and look at the Lexus stamps everywhere. When I picked up my tC it didn't have a head unit in it. When I had the celica I had that whole car apart and didn't see any of those. Maybe it means something maybe it doesn't.

have fun making your car look ____ty. bad idea.

If lexus put out the tC the price would be very high, well out of the range of the target market. the base engine they would include in it would be the one out the es300, and that would raise the price signifigantly.

I dont recall the magazine my sales guy showed me when I went to accept delivery of the tC, but it contained a small picture and snippet of a lexus concept that looks VERY close to the tC. Glass roof, same general body shape, but big ol' wheels (concept style of course). Based off the popularity of the tC, I'd expect to see it in a year or so. Jacked up of course to 40-50k. =P

Salesmen tend to be, well, salesmen..... this car was designed from the beginning to be a coupe for the american market under the scion badge. It has some nice appointments for a car its price, but was never destined to be a lexus.

Along the same lines.... after about 100 hours on this forum, I went to the dealer for the first time, and pretty much destroyed him with knowledge.... I knew so much more than the salesman that I kinda got worried that he would even be able to help me order a tC. everything worked out in the end..... I drove my dad's boxster to the dealer (so they'd at least give me the time of day), and one of the salesmen tried to tell me that toyota did all the R&D and construction of that car. I smiled and nodded and lamented the lack of real auto knowledge on the showroom floor. (Toyota did help porsche develop their production technique for the Finland plant)

Most people are more likely to buy a vehicle because of the view or the feel when they sit in the seat or how safe they perceive a vehicle to be, these are people best served by the old method of sales. As people utilize the internet more and actually research cars, dealers will have to respond with better educated staffs. Scion is to a certain extent a result of this interest....

if you said tC was going to be on the Lexus line up and they changed their minds, its probably because tC will cost 16k. It would be the cheapest lexus ever. I bet the tC would be the best selling car too..

but i think thats bull tho. tC was planned for scion
