Default buying a new tc today

i am going in to the dealership today to order an 07 tc. i have been told the scion prices are no haggle. since that is the case do you think instead of talking them down in price that i might be able to talk them into giving me the CAI for free? do i even stand a chance? if not what about the floor mats?

I highly doubt they will give you the cold air intake. I learned a lot when I bought my car and now I know even more and could have saved probably $1000. Don't buy into the crap the dealer offers you when you do the financing, its just a ploy for them to make money on. Ex. I was reading my warranty packet and it started talking about Rotary engine parts to my knowledge Toyota has never made a rotary engine. The security etching and all that crap just isn't worth it IMO. If you want low monthly payments, stick to the basics. I bought an RS1 so it had some options built into the package that I would have bought otherwise, so that kind of worked out for me. Your best bet with the options is to search the classified ads on here and possibly ebay. For floor mats there is a DIY for xB mats but the same process should work for the tC. I'm sure you can find someone locally that has the factory mats to make a template. Best of luck and enjoy the tC. Just don't wreck it playing Speed Racer.

No way will the dealer...any dealer, give you CAI for free.

And yes, the prices are no haggle, unless you have a trade. I spent 90 minutes going over middle school math with a salesman. My car was 18k flat, I had a trade for 3k, he kept coming up with a total of 19k.

Floor mats will probably be a "dealer installed" option on the majority of the cars there.

depends...i ended up arguing for 2hrs to get some installed floormats (another dealer said they'd give 'em to me but they didnt have any tCs in stock..) so it's kind of a no joke pure price thing. anyway, the only real difference in price you're going to find is in the processing fee (the place i wanted floormats from had a $250 fee versus most places were it's $100). so long story short i just went to a dealer with the lowest processing fee and called it a day & bought the floormats haha.

in any event, make sure you're not paying a cent more over the online price because i've heard stories (when i was deciding on my '06, learning negotiating etc.) that some dealers try to charge you more...so don't let that happen.

then again there was a tC marked up $100 over another on one lot and i was given the explanation that they came in on different shipments and that they did upgrades on the '06...don't know if that legitimized the price diff but the manager got pretty mad when i argued with him about it. *managers shouldn't get angry or they'll loose business...duh*

to wrap it up i'd also second the statement about avoiding all that extra warranty from the dealership especially if you're already looking to put a cai in...and i also second the suggestion to stay totally stock (excluding airbags) b/c you can get much better aftermarket stuff (radios, security, mirrors etc) and a lot of the stuff is really easy to put in yourself. if you want the scion brand then just look for people selling their upgraded radios and stuff here on s/l and you'll see how much $ you can save. good luck and enjoy your tC!

My dealer charged a $400 conveyance fee. I dunno whether its against scion policy or whatever (nor do I car), but i made it clear I wasn't going to pay that $400. So it ended up that we negotiated some trd parts plus install for the $400. Like I said, I dont know if its against policy, but I dont care! lol

The only thing that may be negotiable is the fees, ask about them up front. I thought it was nice of them to include a full tank of gas until I saw what they charged me for it.

ya I had an experience where they tried to slip in the extended warranty and the careone service certificates without telling me.... I noticed it when I got to financing and was PO'd that they did that so I called up scion customer care right then and there

buy nothing from the dealer - get what you can for free and then hit up Ebay or find a local chapter of scion evolution or another scion club and get with them for the stuff you want.

Under Scion Convenient the dealer does not have the ability to give you anything for free. So unfortunately the CAI of Floor Mat thing isn't going to work for you, but good luck with your purchase and give us an update after you get from the dealer to let us know how things went.

"It's included in the sticker price of any new car just FYI."

This was not part of the sticker price, this was part of the added fees.

full tank of fuel is listed on the left side of the Monroney label as standard equipment so if you saw it listed as added fee, you got taken.

My finance guy added like 800 to my trade because my dad is a beast when he buys cars. They can't take money off, but there are work arounds... I guess it helps that my dad just wrote a check for the car, beats me.
