Default look at my strut bar...

As some of yu should already know i had the TRD rs3 xB strut bar on my car for quite some time. I atempted to purchase a JDM bar from another SL member, but to no avail, so idecided to take things a step further. I took my bar to my body shop and told them to play with the color until they could get a nice metallic shade to match my aem oil cap, and heres what ive got:

...i believe i will be painting all of the turbo piping this color as well, so stay tuned

sure will and thats exactly what im thinking. I found a way to reuse my TRD CAI with the turbo setup with minimal modification, so i believe i will be sending that out today or tomorow to be sprayed and cleared.

Looks nice. I hope you dont have the same problems i heard with the TRD brace.

I heard they bend easily.

Hopefully that doesnt happen to you

Awesome idea

lol^

Thanks guys. I like it alot, in regards to the TRD bar bending easily, i have yet to see that happen.

Sure, you might be able to take two people on either side, and bend one in half, but you need to take in account the type of pressure this bar absorbs. It absorbs a pushing on either side as the towers try to flex inward, which would take a TONE of force to bend the bar (as opposed to taking each end and purposley trying to bend it.

...just my .02

well like i said i heard it bends easily.
i havent been able to fork over the cash to test it lol.
but if you look at the way the bar is...

It looks like because it is not straight to begin with, that it would bend alot easier than a model like this.

My whole theory on that is straighter metal with supports is harder to bend in any direction when compared to a thicker metal with more degree bends and no supports.

Besides, carbon steel is stronger and has a higher melting point then plain "high strength steel"

(Stength is MPa or Mega Pascal) (1Pa is = 1 N/m²) (Density is grams per cc)

[table:a3c8b8f44a][mrow:a3c8b8f44a]Material[mcol:a3c8b8f44a]Yield Strength[mcol:a3c8b8f44a]Ultimate Strength[mcol:a3c8b8f44a]Density[mcol:a3c8b8f44a]Melting Point (Celcius)[row:a3c8b8f44a]Stainless Steel[col:a3c8b8f44a]207-552[col:a3c8b8f44a]515-827[col:a3c8b8f44a]7.75-8.1[col:a3c8b8f44a]1371-1454[row:a3c8b8f44a]Carbon Steel[col:a3c8b8f44a]186-758[col:a3c8b8f44a]276-1882[col:a3c8b8f44a]7.85[col:a3c8b8f44a]2800[/table:a3c8b8f44a]
This proves that carbon steel (the dc sports bar) is about 2.5 times stronger in high stress conditions (ultimate strength)
I will also note that Stainless Steels melting point is 1371-1454 (°C) and Carbon Steel has a 2800 (°C) melting point. Twice as capable of taking heat.
Sorry to get geeky, but i want my car to have and be the best [table:a3c8b8f44a][/table:a3c8b8f44a]

all that is good and dandy, but when it realy comes down to it wether you go with that bar or not your not going to get any more out of things. the strut towers are integral with the firewall which meens that they are pretty structurally sound to begin with. Nothing wrong with wanting the best, but imo trd is more than sufficient.

...and also your table assumes that these metals are pure whcih i highly doubt on both ends of the spectrum, but to each their own!

Dc's def looks more bad ___ anyways.
