If it's made by street scene, it will resemble all of their other Speed grilles which they are well known for.

Thanks to Squirral and all that have posted.
The grill will be hard to differentiate from the JDM speed grille. Let's find the grill. I heard the the lower two will have a package deal of about $190. :D for the brushed. I have no idea about the top one.
Let's get the research going.

you mean street scene makes them, but doesn't sell them? and they don't know anyone who does sell them? isn't that odd?

Do these attach to the honeycomb grilles or replace them?

If they are replacements, I'm interested in the lower two honeycomb grills if you're interested in getting rid of 'em :D

Hey Gang. Its Spanky from Street Scene. I promise not to make this a commercial, but I saw that you were all taking about our Speed Grilles. We want to make this part for your Scions but we need to borrow a Scion for a couple of days so that we can tool off of it. Whoevers Scion we borrow, we will give them a free grille for their troubles. We have a part number for this item, and have demand for this part but havent been able to get our hands on a vehicle to do the work. It sounds like many of you are interested in this part so if you can help us out, we would really appriciate it. Call us at 888 477 0707 if you can help, or e-mail me back. Thanks for your interest in the Street Scene Speed Grille and the complements. We really appriciate it!

update: SSC is totally stoked on doing the grilles, but they have 0 time for tooling right now, as they are doing 3 full custom cars for the SEMA corporation and 1 car for a giveaway at the SEMA show. they have assured me that as soon as those cars are ready, then we can begin the tooling. they are also looking into doing a body kit also, after the grille is finished. i'll let ya'll know if i hear anything else.

Wes, let me ask you, did you have a speed grill prior to this? Or is that a speed grill on top? All I have to say is that it looks EXCELLENT! I might have to jump on this! Well... then cut up the bottom to go around my fogs! Nice work and thanks for the follow up!

scionracerxb
03-16-2005, 03:20 AM
no, i didn't have a speed grille. the top one is also from Street Scene. it will come in a 3 piece kit. the top one fits snugly over the stock grill (minus the scion emblem) so that everything with the cooling system remains together as Scion intended for it to be.

LowProMofo
03-16-2005, 03:24 AM
It looks great man! What kind is that? Is it chrome or brushed? Reason I ask is SS also makes a Stainless Steel grille for other models. I have one in my truck. The chrome will usually start to rust and that's why they came out with stainless steel.

Thanks for the info on this dzcustom. I ordered a set of brushed aluminum for my BOP. I've been wanting to get something on the front end to break up all the darkness. I was undecided between the Grillcraft and Street Scene until I saw the closeups of both. I chose the Street Scene for the grill pattern and from other comments I've read elsewhere on Street Scene quality. I would've bought the Grillcraft had I not stumbled across this post on Street Scene.

I'd still like to get a Scion Logo back in the middle of the grill. Does anyone know of one that I can purchase that would bolt on to a mesh grill?

scionracerxb
06-12-2005, 11:28 PM
when i got mine, i tried putting my scion emblem from the rear hatch on the front, and it didn't look good at all. it looks way better with just the street scene logo on it.

BTW the grilles finally went into full production last week, and should start to be avail. at your local SS dealers.

Boxed_In
06-13-2005, 12:19 AM
ok, thanks for the advice on the emblem. I was thinking of something flatter than the stock emblem as that protrudes too far to look good on a mesh grill.

scionracerxb
06-13-2005, 03:33 AM
not the emblem from the front, the FLAT ONE OFF THE BACK OF THE CAR! its about as flat as it gets, but still, it didn't look right.

Thanks! 1/2 way through the installation the skies opened up and I had to scramble to get my tools stuffed into the car. Then after it cleared I finished it up and washed the car so I could take the pics. Shortly after the pics I heard thunder coming from the Poconos again so I quickly got the car into the garaage. It's been a heck of a day!

scionracerxb
07-10-2005, 08:20 PM
wow! how hard were they to install? i didn't have to install mine becuzz street scene installed them when they were finished with the first one.

Boxed_In
07-10-2005, 09:58 PM
They weren't too bad. They're a fraction too long and I had to bend in the outer edges a little. The trick to getting it to fit right was to anchor one end into position then pop in the other end. The tension then made the middle pop out which was frustrating. But I decided to anchor the other end anyway and was able to pull in the middle sufficiently enough so that the curve matched the bumper.

All in all it was a little more difficult than I expected, but it wasn't the hardest thing I've ever done. Securing the grills with mini zip ties is a must, at least with the samples I have, as the clamps allowed the grill to slip back out of alignment.
