Anyone with an auto tC notice EVERY car passing you at 45, 55, 65 mph? When the speed limit is 55 (on the freeway) and I'm doing that I see EVERY single car pass me and same goes for 65mph. I was just wondering if any other people with autos are seeing the same thing. Makes me want to trade in my tC or learn how to drive a stick.

 

Maybe you should just drive faster. It's not your car, it's the other drivers.

 

people go faster than the speed limit, it has nothing to do with an automatic transmission. push down the gas pedal more.

yeah.... nothing to do with being an auto.. it's just the other drivers deciding they want to be speed racers and go faster than what they're supposed to.

 

...are you kidding? that just means the cars around you are going faster than you are. if you are doing 55, and another car is doing 65, that car is going to pass you. that's not the vehicle, it's you the driver.

and anyway i normally never feel like i'm getting anywhere unless i'm consistently passing the traffic around me, so i don't get passed much. if i do it's some idiot in a mustang doing 30 over.

i normally only do about 8-10 over on regular roads, and 20 over on highways. cops around here will normally not bother you at those speeds. 15 and over on regular roads and 25-30 over is when they start pulling people over. unless you get a cop on a bad day.

but anyway yeah maybe i'm reading it wrong but your post has nothing to do with whether or not the tC is slow or manual

 

unless the cop is in a really bad mood, going over by around 5 mph, he won't bother...

it's good that you don't speed... and if you want to push it a little... flow with traffic and blend in....

don't put yourself in a situation where you're isloated... cops will pick you out like an eagle about to catch its prey.

 

If everyone else is going faster than the limit (in my experience of driving in Pheonix, they do...yall's crazy out there ) then you can get away with it too....99% of the time. Just keep pace with the surrounding traffic and you'll be ok.

 

I DO go 5 over and this POS tC is still slow. Even old people pass me it's so sad. My 2000 suzuki swift was faster then this tC.

the tC is capable of doing 127mph - even the automatic trim

if you do not want a ticket, you will be driving any car just as fast, and people will still be passing you.

maybe switch lanes to the relatively slower lane?

Every other tC zooms right pass me. I thought maybe since my car was a spec I would go just as fast or faster.
