i went to play some need for speed most wanted, turned it on and got three red lights. So i hopped online to see what that meant, and sure enough its hardware failure. unfortunately i dont have the warranty on it either, so i guess im out of luck. ugh, oh well, i guess its off to buy a new one.

Can't they fix it? Maybe just needs a hard drive.

Last I checked, $140 was less than $300 so it's still better to get it fixed. Isn't it?

my 360 just died to...if ya read the forums at xbox you would have seen that microsoft has added a year to the warranty so its free...id call asap if i was you ....they ask if ya have a recipt i said no but i know that i bought it feb -march of last year and they sent me a box so im just waiting to get mine back now...very fast and easy to do just get the info from your 360 ..serial # is all ya need

I bought a 360 for $150 of someone. It had hardware failure. Calles M$ up, told them it was broken. They sent me a box, packed it up and shipped it to them. Less than week later, I had a brand new 360 at my door. They dont fix them, they just send you a new one.

And the whole return thing does work. My friend did it all the time when the xbox would crap out. He would f'up occasionally when modding the xbox, and return the f'ed up box for a new one using method descibed above. shady? yes.

XBOX extended the warranty period for early gen units. You should call them.

yeah it's true. funny this is the second time i have posted this today in a forum.

early gen 360's...rumor was they were rushed and 1 of the overseas factories wasn't doing strong solder points...and that is compounded by the fact they have this foil heat shield..essentiatlly that can help to block in humidity, which converts to water at somepoint, can freeze, convert back..anyway bad stuff for electrical components and can crack those solder points that aren't 100%.

the fix is bonafide. i just haven't done it because i have a 2yr warranty..my first did get fragged and i am on my third now. i just keep sending them in and getting new refurbs.

anyway, this fix is so well known..and so cheap. that's why "broken" 360's still can get a lot of money on ebay.
