First insult today...
Well, that didnt take too long. After about a month of owning a new '06 TCM xB I have received numerous compliments and questions (almost as many as when I owned my '94 Vortec supercharged Ford Lightning, 13.2 second farm truck anyone??) but today I got my first insult.
I was getting in the car at a supermarket and some ___ driving a Golf told me that the Xb was like a roller skate with doors. I guess he didnt realize that his car was about the same size, and equally anemic under the hood.
Oh well, I didnt buy this car to impress people or go fast. Been there, done that.

Heheheheheh... I haven't been to Cherry Hill since 1983, but it doesn't sound like some folks have changed much.

Your not missing too much. I moved down here from Princeton for some property tax relief (if you consider paying $8000 a year in property taxes a relief) and the people are kinda snooty. I guess because Im the youngest family in the neighborhood and dont park a $75,000 S500 in my driveway I dont quite fit in. Just wait intil I put my Tein springs on and 17" wheels. The neighbors will **** a brick. HAHA
I'm not sweating it at all. I bought this car with my business to replace a...ugh, Ford Focus, that was t-boned and totaled by some bag in a Jag Xk-8.
I drive about 150 miles a day on average and wanted something fun, cool, and economical to drive. It fits the bill perfectly. I was looking at the WRX wagon before this, the 5k price premium didnt spook me because that car is SO fun to drive, but the gas mileage and the fact you HAVE to run premium fuel did it in.
I would recommend this car to anyone. I have some nice plans for it too. My pops owns an auto body shop and we are going to two tone it, put some Tein S-techs on it (which I bought from the classified section here, thank you very much), and pop some 17" on there. I will post up some pictures as the work gets done. Im as addicted to this car as I was my money pit....ehemm, Lightning.

Here are two more threads to prepare you for the crap that people like to dish out on us xB owners:

I don't get insults anymore. xBs are earning a lot of respect - especially in SoCal. I drive a great deal in the Inland Empire, San Diego and LA and I still get people asking serious questions. Many people are disappointed there isn't going to be an '08 just like this one.
