I may be setting myself up for some lashing here, but I really need a little help. I got the TRD exhaust for my xB, and I like it ok around town, but on road trips, it drives me crazy.
I have called the dealership, and they say that can't really help out. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to quiet down the TRD exhaust??
Thank you!!

Yes, the drone is pretty annoying. It's not so bad that you can't crank up the stereo and kill some of the noise, but I don't like to blast the stereo the whole time on an 8 hour trip either.
I've had it for about 3 weeks, got it installed along with the cold air, sub, and cruise control.
I'm going to call around to some more muffler shops, if I find anything I will post it up here

Are these mufflers like the typical 4" tip openings? If so you can try a muffler silencer. Any pics of this thing?

Exactly what mods have you done to your exhaust? Header only? Complete system? Some combo of the two?
If it's the noise that's bothering you, that should be easily fixed by putting on a different muffler. An oval-style like a FlowMaster or Magnaflow, with mechanical baffles instead of steel wool or fiberglass like in those ricer cans, along with a glasspack resonator should quiet it down to a more tolerable level.
I replaced the stock muffler with a FlowMaster knockoff, 2.25" inlet/outlet with a 3.5" tip. Sounds nice, gives it a little more ooomph, not loud at all and definitely better-sounding than stock.

I know on the Cavaliers, a lot of people remove the exhaust resonator, which in some cases make it louder than they wanted.
As a remedy for this, they replaced the resonator, or put a glass pack in the exhaust before the muffler.
Not sure if this would have the same effect on the box or not, but it might be worth a shot.
Other than that, find someone with stock exhaust that might want to swap their stock and some cash for your exhaust. Just an idea.

I put the complete TRD system on there, I will post a pic of the exhaust so all can see.

Ive got the TRD exhaust an the AEM intake on an auto! There is a little drone on the highway or just goin slow, but know where near other exhaust's! This has got to be the least sound out of an aftermarket performance muffler ever! If its too loud put the stock one back on cuz I dont think your gonna get any less sound out of another.
