Yeah, if you want a automatic you can probably still buy one here. See, maybe in texas where everyone's driving their trucks to go vote for another Bush in office, there are some available. But here in the educated states, they're simply not available(minus a 2+ month wait, that's over now anyway).

...and all of this, "look, its a scion HHR"... please, you know what the biggest problem with that statement is? Even though it has rear fenders that vaguely resemble a couple of domestic UUV types, an HHR is a FLIPPIN CHEVY, not a TOYOTA!! Jesus H people...

Personally, I think the xB2 is hot. Its roomier, it has more power, it has projectors, its five lug, you can roll it off the lot with navigation/video/headrest monitors/supercharger/five axis body kit. What the hell else do you want?

/rant

You know what they say about opinions. Everyone has one.

Personally, I'd love to have the bB or the Open Deck xB. But that didn't happen. From the photos it looks like a modified HHR. I do know the brands are different. It's the unique styling loss that is being lamented.

I just witnessed a complete train wreck in just three pages.

Seriously people, after the past few days of people arguing about the new designs, we should probably give it a rest. I don't personally like the xB2, but I can understand the appeal to some people. It's silly to keep arguing, you're not going to change anyone's minds. Calling people cry babies and using prior posts to illustrate a point doesn't help. Making broad generalizations against an entire state doesn't help either.
So relax guys. If you like the new ones, by all means, go out and buy one, if you don't like the new ones, be glad that you have an old one, or run out and get one while they're still available.

You DO realize that Scion actively monitors what is said on these boards right? I've been to Scion meets out here in Cali and meet people who are designing the new tC (the one unveiled recently isn't it). They asked us what we'd like to see in the new tC's. A lot of us said projectors, LED tails, more horsepower, LSD etc.

Lots of companies see forums as a way to actively monitor what people think about their products. If you think your opinion is worthless, don't give it.

I know better.

I view the term "Hater" as being against something without reason, like jealousy, or how a lot of honda drivers rant and rave on how Scion is "teh suxorz".

There are a LOT of reasons why people don't like the new xB, and jealousy doesn't seem to be a factor. There are legitmate reasons why people don't like the new xB.

I really didn't think they could get any uglier ... guess I was wrong.

Sorry but that xB is uglier than ever! The original version (shoe-box style) was unique in it's own way. Now it's not since it's getting a little curvy. As for the xD and xA, it's still ugly! Always thought they and all the other small cars are just cheaper versions of the MINI Cooper.

first of, anyone from texas knows, Austin barely counts as Texas.

Austin is an educated, and would be a cool place to live for people. Probably the only city in the entire state of texas that votes democrat and isn't filled to the brim with super-walmart size churches.

Washington State is considered the smartest state in the nation (% of those who hold a B.A. or better, and usually % of high school grads).

Seattledave, I lived in Austin, TX, but I've been Washington State for over 44 years. Now I live a stones throw from Puget Sound, and there are far more idots here than in Austin, TX. So why do I still live in Western Washington? My wife and I have a grand daughter here. Nuff said.

first of, anyone from texas knows, Austin barely counts as Texas.

Austin is an educated, and would be a cool place to live for people. Probably the only city in the entire state of texas that votes democrat and isn't filled to the brim with super-walmart size churches.

Quoted for truth!

I lived in TX for a year (Corpus Christi) & just WOW. I wont get into it, but DAMN it sucked! I spent a lot of time in the other major TX cities & learned a few things about that enormous state.

Anyways, Austin IS NOT Texas. For what its worth, Austin prides itself on being the most un-Texas like city ever & you would never know you were in the state unless you looked at a map.

Just saying.

I.m just saying the vast majority of southerners are "ignornant" imo, as the vast majority of americans are. But people down south are much more so, because of their crazy religious convictions. there are smart people everywhere, they're just hard to find, and even harder to find in the south.

I guess I've lived in the smartest state, and stupidest state, maybe i haven't seen much of a middle, but i know AL,MS,OK,LS are all abuot the same, if not less diverse. I was just in texas visiting my dad there over the holidays. While it has changed in the last 10+ years since i was there last, it's still just more of the same stupidity.

There were churches bigger than malls EVERYWHERE there that cost millions of dollars to build, built so their followers can "worship in style" instead of using that money to provide for the hungry and needy. Ignorant. period. (i guess they're not quite the 170 million catholic church in L.A., ubt close though)

I saw parents there hitting and spanking the sh!t uot of their kids in public. In an educated state, that parent would get the beat down by a random stranger. I'd love to do it myself. (and yes I am a father myself). That kind of mentality that it's ok to hit kids only comes from the super religious and alcoholics.

and the unwritten rule of texas, that most people don't like to admit:
It's "ok" to be separatist and "bad" to be racist.
and being openly ___? good lord. I remember 1 kid in my 5,000 kid highschool (5A) that tried to be open. i can't count the number of times that kid was beaten up.

Again, Austin is not texas. so i don't mean austin or people from austin.

Look at the states that always vote republican in the big elections...
southern, lowest educated(at least in schools), evangelical

Look at the states that always vote democrat...
northern, highest educated(at least in schools), high % of agnostic/atheist

bad coincidence, but true.

So if you're Christian, from a Southern state, or vote Republican... you're stupid?

my question is, why is everyone so ecstatic about more horse power on the xB2? we don't NEED more horsepower. unless you're towing boats or trailers, what's the point? well.. i guess it is bigger and heavier now... ugh.

about the whole ignorant southerners... its not a southern issue, its a humanity issue, primarily america who seems to need the BIGGEST and FASTEST cars... why? i like my low emissions, good mpg and not overflowing out of parking spots. I'm probably talking to a wall because most people will never comprehend this type of ideology of not being so wasteful. i guess I'm just sad to see a good small car with character take a step in the direction of SUVdom.

But my two cents on the xB2...

First time I saw it: wtf is this!?
Second time: Ugh, it's so ugly.
Third: What were they thinking...

Keep staring at it..

By end of day.. it was starting to grow on me and now I'm over not liking it and I think it's fine. Just a little.. different than what people were expecting (but then it wouldn't be the xB2, right?) That's all.

That was in response to someone saying that north Texas is starting to look like Cali. The essence of the statement is that every city is being cloned, and thus, every city/town/region is starting to look like cali, or AZ, or Colorado, or whatever. There are a few bright spots, but 99% of all cities can be classified (looks wise) into one of a small handful of catagories; quaint town, small-big city trying its darndest not to become cloned megalopolis, and then cloned megalopolis. 40k starbucks can't wrong, can they?

Nor am I "super" relgious at all not even a little bit, buy how many of the 95% of those in the survey would classify themselves, or be classified as "super" religious?

I do believe that there is a great misconception as to those of who do spank and those that don't. I stopped daily beatings a while back, so now it's only once a month, but the trade off was we'll use the old fridge in the back yard for his "timeout" times. And if you read this far, and think I'm serious, just go play in traffic ;)

seriously tho, mild spankings, done rarely (done too often, they lose their effectivnvess) mixed in with several other consequences that are used more often are just fine for the child. The most important thing is to set down expectations, and be consistant with your consequences.

I feel the opposite about spanking. While yes, my parents, both of them, beat the sh!t out of me growing up, that's really not any point.
I've told the follwing to my parents, my friends (we all have kids now), and siblings, and I have shown them how:

By spanking a child, you teach a child it's ok to hit when someone uses their best judgement.

read that again if you don't understand.

Now you probably think that's stupid, fine. Take your young child to a playground, the "balls at mcdonald's", or another place where kids mingle and do physical things while not realising they're being watched by adults. Normally adjusted kids who've been spanked will hit or push other children when that kid does something they don't like or approve of. I wonder who taught them that behaviour was ok?

You're not just teaching them "do something bad, you get spanked". You're showing them what behaviour is acceptable, that "smart people can hit dumb people to correct their behaviour" or "big people can hit small people to correct their behaviour"(usually a trait boys grow up with).

Most people don't get it, and that's why spanking/hitting children will continue.

haha , the 1st gen is weird as hell looking as well, aren't they're supposed to? cmon if you're not into that kind of thing / making a statement maybe for some / most people will say that the box is ugly as hell . U either love it or hate it. No the 2nd gen is just as weird in a different way. It accomplishes that goal heh.

That's interesting. While my brother would have fit that description (who wasn't spanked, but outright abused and beaten from a point of anger, and who was also a foot taller than every kid his age) I know I don't, and I was only spanked occasionaly. So, I'm guessing there's something to that and there's more gray area than a simple B&W...like most areas of life.

How did this topic manage itself from a discussion involving the 2nd-gen xB into a "damn, toothless, ignorant, Texas hicks" bashing session, then suddenly, and without warning, morph into a discussion of proper child correction and punishment (which is a good solid spanking, by the way!), and finally end up as a discussion of deviant, dominant/submissive-fetish fantasies involving the Super Nanny?
Please tell me how... or am I just too dad-blurn ignant to understand this here post since I be one of them there Texans who likes killin', drinkin', fightin', and F@#$in'?

In all my time being a small patron/member of this website, I don't think I have ever seen any of the posts get as outta hand as this one. :blah:

You all just simmer down (yea a southern sayin'.).....

We are a family here. Dont forget that. Scion people are lovers! We are not haters and get tied up in political battles over a f...-in "re-design" and then start insulting each other getting WAYY off track from the original post. Everyone just cool it down now. We look like idiots on the other automotive websites I bet.

We are known as one of the coolest group of car owners and all of this talk is about to screw that up. Stop it now. C'mon.....Show some love for all of our cars and each other ....1st gen....2nd gen.....and the ones coming years from now that we don't even know about yet.

We all knew it was coming. It is here now. And it will be for the next 4-5 years.

Personally, I like my 05' "Bella La Toasty" better. But the new one is growing on me too. There is always going to be those that prefer the original....those that prefer the new one ....and those who like em' all. I wish I could afford to have my 05', a new XB2, an XA, an XD and a TC....but I cant right now. But it would be cool to have em' all.

Just think how cool it would be to get a bunch of us together with a mountain or beach back-drop with a bunch of Original and New XB's and XA's and XD's and TC's for a big ol' group shot for all of us to have a copy of and hang somewhere in our homes. ....stock and custom all mingling together......"HOT"!

Now THAT is a family that hangs-out together and respects each other for being 'different' and " just driving cool cars" by the same car company.

Peace and Love Brothers and Sisters!!.
