Default W3 vs W6

I have a W3 right now but not sure if it would be worth it to upgrade to a W6... w3 pushes 300, and w6 pushes 400... will that be a big difference?

go with a treo sub. www.treoonline.com. i have one of their ssi ten inch subs in a ported box running off only 300 watts and it's crazy loud and has great sound quality and probably costs less. the ssi series is rated at 750 watts rms each. they retail for $300.

i have a new MTX TA5601 amp on the way now as well to give it some more power cause it's craving it. i tried another more powerful amp on it a few weeks back just to try it and it absolutely loved it so i can't wait. the amp i tried wasn't made to handle a 2 ohm load but i tried it for a few minutes and the sub loved it, but the amp didn't(nor did my whole electrical system)

here is a video of it on 300 watts if anybody cares. i'll make a new video once i get the new amp on it.

from what i have heard the JL subs don't handle power very well.

you can get better for less $$$.

yes it will make a difference, depends on ur setup also, but the w6 pumps alot of bass while the w3 hits nice, smoothly and consistently...i know because my dad has a w3 in his tundra, and we have a w6 in our 4runner..hope this helped

W6>w3, but if you already have a W3, the upgrade isn't worth the extra cost.

i've just heard if you give them a lot they just don't last. not trying to bash JL, just going from what i have heard. the treo's are sweet. once i saw it i knew i had to have one and i don't regret it. my previous sub was a type-r alpine, and this new treo kills it.

That depends on whether you're asking about the difference between the w3 and w6, or the difference between 300 & 400 watts.

Take either sub, give it 300w and it'll hit 'X' number of dB. Give it an additional 100w, for 400 total, and it'll play 1dB louder, if the sub's output remains linear (many don't).

It takes double the power to increase SPL by 3dB. In this scenario the power is increased by one-third, which would be 1dB.

Jl speakers are whats called efficient--> which means they dont need to be over powered for you to hear them. This is where the quality comes in. These speakers should never be pushed beyond factory specs because they just dont need to be. Having a 10,000 watt system does not mean you have the best or even the loudest. When shoping for car audio shop for efficient products not boosted stats. If you notice most reputable brands actually under rate there products so that the consumer is more than happy with the product. (This is why their amps are so expensive) ...
